Enhancing Learning On Five School Subjects Through Tech Toys

With so much technology surrounding our kids, it's easy to incorporate any of the school subjects to their play time. Depending on the age of your child, you can find toys to enhance their learning.
Learning doesn't have to adhere to just pencil and paper, here are a few of my favourite toys that your children may enjoy and not realize that they are learning!

Social Studies

The basics of Social Studies is family and community. You can teach early learners about the environment around them by starting with  Family Tree Maker software for your computer. Teach them about their own history, before they branch out into the history of the world. Once young learners grasp the basics of community, you can start teaching them maps with the  Leap Frog tag system. The Tag system can be used in many subjects, but with the   Leap Frog Interactive World Map Works With Tag Reading System is a fun way to bring technology into learning. With over 300 touch points and 30 activities, this is a great system  to teach kids 4-8 about maps, world languages, and geography.

English and Language ArtsBasic

English skills start early with the alphabet and letter sounds. The Leap Frog Letter Factory Phonics toy is a great way to teach younger learners about the alphabet and word foundations. As they start writing, the  Leap Frog Leap Reader and Writer can help them learn how to form words, read, and play games as they go along.

Math

Mathematical skills start early with shapes and counting. The Learning Resources Teaching Cash Register is a great learning tool that not only enhances creative play and imagination with role playing, but also teaches counting and the importance of saving money. Monetary values can also be learned with this toy. For younger learners, the    Children Baby Kids Learning Developmental Versatile Flap Abacus Wooden Toy is a great system to teach the basics.

Gym

Keeping kids active during colder months may pose a challenge, but with a Wii gaming system, the  Wii Fit bundle, and a few Wii Fit compatible games, kids can stay active while playing. They won't even realize they are working up a sweat with their favourite characters from  Nickelodeon Fit for Nintendo Wii.
The  LeapTV is also a great gaming system at a reasonable price that gets kids off the couch and working with fun characters to complete tasks, dance, and get active.
