The Duchess of Cambridge has announced her second pregnancy, and royal baby watchers couldn’t be more thrilled.

When it comes to babywear trends, Prince George has been even more influential than little Harper Beckham – he only has to wear a particular jumper for it to sell out immediately. And William and Kate’s new baby is set to be just as much of a fashion player. With that in mind, here’s the baby clothes you need to get the royal baby look.

How to dress your baby, royal-style

If you want to give your own baby that aristocratic look, the trick is to go for classic English style – think Peter Pan collars, all-in-one romper suits and dungarees in simple blues and whites. These are just the kind of thing, and they’re a great price, too.

The good news is that Kate’s tastes, while high-end, aren’t particularly expensive, so some of the outfits she chooses are affordable for mere mortals, too. Prince George has been pictured wearing clothes from Baby Gap, Petit Bateau and the White Company, as well as US designer Rachel Riley. When he was photographed wearing a €60 sailboat romper from Belgian website Les Petites Abeilles, it sold out immediately. You’ll find similar suits online.

Baby shoes are vital when it comes to getting the royal look. Trendy Converse and Doc Marten’s are a definite no-no – instead it’s all about timeless styles in classic navy or brown. Prince George wears Alex Pre-Walkers, and more recently he’s been spotted wearing Start-rite’s Jo shoes.

How to decorate your nursery

Reports suggest that, when decorating Prince George’s nursery, Kate and William opted for a Beatrix Potter theme. A pregnant Kate was spotted shopping for furnishings in Chelsea’s Dragons of Walton Street, which stocks everything to kit out an aristocratic nursery, from cupboards and changing tables to rocking horses and dolls’ houses.

There’s plenty of Dragons of Walton Street furniture available on eBay, including pretty girls’ sleigh beds and beautiful, hand-painted nursery cupboards.

Accessories to go for

When Prince George left St Mary’s hospital, he was pictured wrapped in an Aden & Anais swaddle blanket. With their cute animal-print designs, these have long been a hit with celebrities, including Gwen Stefani and Heidi Klum. You can get hold of your own easily enough, and the prices aren’t too bad, either.

The prince was driven home in a Britax Baby-Safe Infant Carrier car seat, which again you can get online without too much trouble.

Royal commentators will no doubt be intrigued to see if Kate recycles George’s old kit for baby no. 2, or buys a new set of gear. Either way, if she has a girl, the baby fashion blogs are sure to be working overtime…
