If you're a big Joss Whedon fan it's easy to build a collection that celebrates his work

Joss Whedon is a man who can do it all: screenwriter, director, producer, comic book author, composer and actor; he has been creating characters and worlds loved by people across the globe from Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in 1997 to The Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.

Whedon is revered in the fandom world but also heavily scrutinised by those who love his work so much, but want it to play to their imaginations. If you are one of those who respects and loves Whedon's work - and would avoid running him off Twitter at all costs - then confess your love with these great collectable items to adorn your home with.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Created in 1997, and based on an earlier film that didn't do so well in the cinemas, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was well received amongst teenage girls everywhere with its cast of relatable and inspiring characters.

Buffy was what every teenage girl aspired to be, beautiful and strong, while her best friend Willow was the brains of the group - smart, pretty and funny. Xander was the loveable comedian of the gang, making jokes in the face of danger but never knowing his true worth.

It seems as if every possible collectable route has been taken when it comes to Buffy, which just means more memorabilia to get your hands on.

Funko Pop!

Funko Pops! have taken the world by storm, with their cute oversized heads and detailed bodies, they're great for fans of the show looking for a fun way of professing their love for Whedon and his vampire slaying creation. You can pick up Buffy the Vampire Slayer Pops of  the main show characters in different outfits from memorable episodes. Sadly there's no Buffy in her stunning wedding dress from her imagined wedding to Angel (sob!)

Action Figures

Collectables for such a show definitely require action figures and there is a huge variety to choose from. Look for figures unopened and secure in their boxes, with accessories or go for something as bold as a bust head figure - bonus points if you pick up an Anya in her bunny suit

Comics and cards

Now that the show is over (since 2003 if you can believe that) the Buffy franchise has been immortalised in comic book form. You can also pick up Top Trumps cards featuring the characters to play with friends.

Angel

The spin off show from Buffy was well received by fans and allowed Whedon to take a darker (but still humorous) approach to his franchise with the brooding character Angel, a vampire with a soul. Based in L.A, Angel features familiar faces from Buffy including Cordelia Chase and Wesley as he (begrudgingly) sets up a paranormal investigation agency and continues to fight evil without Buffy by his side. The show of course had to eventually end, simply because David Boreanez wasn't looking as youthful as he should be for a vampire who was turned back in 1753.

Puppets

A fan favourite, the episode Smile Time featured Angel being transformed into a puppet. Spike called Angel a 'wee little puppet man' and puppet on puppet fight scenes were highlights of the episode which was nominated for a Hugo Award in 2005.

To commemorate the episode you can get your hands on your very own Angel puppet - for around £200.

Firefly

A sore subject amongst Whedon fans, Firefly is one of the greatest tragedies in the science fiction world as it was cancelled after just one season. Apparently Fox Network had oppositions against the show from the start and fought with Whedon constantly on plot. The marketing caused poor viewing ratings and even though fans campaigned, it was axed. The film Serenity was created as a sequel of sorts but there are still cries of disappointment from the fandom on a regular basis. Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal Fox Network!

Headwear

A man who walks down the street in this hat is not afraid of anything, or so the saying goes. Keep a Jayne Cobb inspired hat in pride of place on the shelf, or on your head, to celebrate Whedon and his genius.

Plush toys

If you've always wanted a model of the Serenity ship consider picking up a plush version that can be thrown in with your scatter cushions on the sofa to profess your love for the show to everyone who visits.

The Avengers

Whedon took The Avengers franchise and made it more awesome than anything Marvel had ever achieved before - although to be honest, anything is better than the Daredevil and Electra movies. Whedon took The Avengers and made the characters diverse and interesting with  his script, as well as throwing in plenty of action, explosions and Loki being his usual cocky self - although we all missed him in The Age of Ultron.

Model Kits

Model kits aren't just great fun to complete but once built they leave you with a collector's item that can be displayed on your shelves. There are plenty of Avengers' model kits online to choose from but we suggest picking up a Moebius kit, which are high quality and relatively easy to put together.

Replica props

We've all wanted to wield Thor's hammer or test out Cap's shield, so why not pick up replicas of these class Avenger accessories to display in your home to tie in your love of Marvel and Joss Whedon's adaptation of the Avengers?

Better yet, you could have a wall light that looks like Thor's hammer stuck in the wall or The Hulk's fist punching through, collect the whole set and your room will look like the Avengers are trying to burst in through the paintwork.

Action Figures

If you hadn't noticed, there's a real theme when it comes to action and Joss Whedon and the Avengers' franchise lends itself perfectly to accompanying action figures for fans to collect. Grab a set of Avengers' action figures to line a shelf, choose figures in unopened boxes because this will help them hold value in later years. Marvel Diamond Select are the best ones to look for. The real collectors' items however, are the quarter scale figures, that look just like the real life characters.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Another TV show, featuring Whedon's art of story telling, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D followed the loveable Agent Coulson and his team of genius, martial art proficient agents. The show sees the agents travel around the world to investigate strange occurrences and occasionally features a cameo from the one and only Samuel L. Jackson, plus plenty of 'advanced' characters to enjoy. Whedon does a spectacular job of tying in what has happened in the Marvel film universe into the series, with each film having a real impact on the events that unfold in each episode.

Costume Cards

For the die hard fans out there you can pick up costume cards, which feature squares of fabric cut from costumes actors have worn on the show. Depending on who wore the costume you could spend a lot of money getting your hands on one  - someone like Stan Lee will bump the price up considerably - but they are definitely a more interesting way of growing a Joss Whedon creation dedicated collection.
