Shabby Chic is a delightful style which will be with us for years to come.  To make sure that the piece you invest in lasts you I suggest the following tips:

 Read the listing very carefully.

Does the seller indicate what the piece is made from, if not, make sure you ask.  Wooden painted furniture should keep its look longer than painted plastic coated pieces.

What type of paint has been used?  There are lots of paint types about, I prefer chalk based paint which will give a longer lasting finish.  Of course, the choice is yours.

Has the item been waxed, if so, what kind of wax?  Again, the choice is yours, but wax protects the paint and prolongs the life of the finish.

Has the seller given a description of how the piece was created?  If not, ask, they should have nothing to hide.

Have any suggestions on use been given?  You may like a piece, but can't think how you could use it.  Suggestions from the seller could help.

Shabby Chic is a genre with many styles, there is no right or wrong way to create this look (although some sellers will be better than others), just enjoy searching and loving the piece that you buy.

I hope this has been of use to you.
