After a period of time in the smartphone wilderness, LG returned with aplomb with last year’s LG G2, which is up there with the top performing Android smartphones out there.

It also has a unique and innovative design feature, thanks to the rear-mounted volume rockers, which, in theory, make it easier to adjust sound output while gripping the phone.

Design nuances aside, the beastly G2 offers a full HD 5.2-inch display, plenty of power and memory and a 13-megapixel camera for your mobile photography needs. Naturally, it can handle 4G mobile data speeds and just about anything else you could throw at it. Available in 16GB and 32GB models.

9. Samsung Galaxy S4

It has a display, RAM and processing power that was considered top-of-the-shop a year ago and it has now been retrofitted with the new Android 4.4 OS.

It’s available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models in a large array of shades. If you’re happy with using last year’s model, in order to save some cash, then the S4 is a great option.
