Tumble Dryer Not Heating? Could Be One Of The Following:
If you have a Tumble Dryer that is not heating up but the drum is turning ok, then the chances are the thermal overload cutout has tripped. Some older dryers have a red reset button on the back of the casing, just press the reset untill you feel it click and you should have heat again. Neff, Bosch dryers have a reset button but you will have to remove the heater cover panel to access it, you will find it just above the heating element (a black stat with small red button) simply press the red button and if it clicks you've fixed it.
Most newer dryers do not have an external reset button (this is so you have to call out an engineer), but have what they call a one shot stat which cuts out and cannot be reset. These stats are normally located in or around the heater area and are very easy to replace.
However if you own a Hotpoint, Creda, Indesit, or Crusader dryer I can help you repair your dryer without buying any parts, I have devised a method of reseting these stats which I have tested on over 100 of my customers machines and is totally safe and works fine. I sell an item which tells how to reset these stats but eBay no longer allow the sale of eBooks so I have listed the full info and if it works you will hopefully pay.
The main reasons for these stats to trip are as follows:
1. The fluf filter is blocked. 2.Condensor unit blocked (condensor dryers only). 3. The dryer has been switched off before the end of the drying cycle and not allowed the dryer to cool down correctly. ALWAYS LET THE DRYER GO THROUGH THE COOLING CYCLE.
There are other reasons your dryer will not heat, the most obvious being the heating element has failed. Another reason is sometimes the timer fails. And if you have a Hotpoint Creda condensor dryer that works for a few minutes and then stops you will need a new relay, as in pictures below.
If you have a Whirlpool Condensor Dryer and the water container light stays on but the container is empty, check the condensor unit at the bottom of the dryer and it is probably blocked. Clean the condensor under a running tap and refit, if it still is not working ie; water light still on you will have to remove the lower plastic cover and press the float downwards while the dryer is running, this will then pump all the excess water into the water container.BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DOING THIS AS LIVE PARTS ARE PRESENT!!!!!!
WASHER DRYER NO HEAT ON DRYING CYCLE
If your washer dryer is not heating then it will be the same type of problem and again older machines have a reset button, to find the reset remove the lid and look at the heater housing you will see various thermostats but one will have the good old red button just press it and if it clicks you will have heat again. Newer machines once again have done away with the reset in favour of the one shot stat none of which can be reset. Which means you will have to purchase a new stat (more money for manufacturers) to complete your repair.
