The London Coin Company have provided a brief explanation on what a proof coin is to help our customers evaluate and understand the termanology Proof. We hope you find it useful.
Proof coins are the way a coin has been struck not the condition of it.
Proof coins are made for collectors and have been struck with dies that have been specially polished on flans with a mirror finnish.
Usually Proof coins will have frosted features with a mirror background where a Brilliant Uncirculated version would just be shiny.
