this is a WARNING to all who are thinking of getting Square Trade insurance for your electronic devices like cell phones or other electronics
If you are considering getting the warranty for whatever reason, Here are some reasons why you might not want to get it.
I TOOK SOME TIME TO REVIEW THE LIMITATIONS AND FOUND OUT THEY LIMIT IT TO ABOUT EVERYTHING BUT NORMAL USE!
Here are some of the crazy limitations that applied to me(for a cell phone)
(m) Accidental damage, cracked or damaged monitor, laptop or display screens, damage due to water or liquid marks and/or rings(ARE THEY KIDDING???)
(d) Maintenance, repair or replacement necessitated by loss or damage resulting from any cause other than normal use and operation of the product in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and owner's manual, including but not limited to, theft, exposure to weather conditions, operator negligence, misuse, abuse, improper electrical/power supply, etc.; ( SO WHAT DO THEY COVER??!?!)
(f) Cosmetic damage to case or cabinetry or other non-operating parts or components;
g) Lack of manufacturer specified maintenance, improper equipment modifications, vandalism, animal or insect infestation, rust, dust, corrosion, defective batteries, battery leakage, or acts of nature or any other peril originating from outside the product; (MEANING IF DUST COLLECTS INSIDE THE SCREEN YOU HAVE TO SUCK IT UP)
(y) Repairs recommended by a repair facility not necessitated by mechanical or electrical breakdown; (THINGS THAT ARE BROKEN BUT THE PHONE STILL BARLEY WORKS??? FOR EXAMPLE A BAD SCRATCH ON THE SCREEN IS NOT COVERED!!)
(ae) Consequential damages or delay in rendering service under this contract or loss of use during the period that the product is at the repair center or otherwise awaiting parts; (THIS MEANS IF THEY BREAK IT MORE WORKING ON IT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT THEY BREAK)
(aj) Charges related to "no problem found" diagnosis. Non failure problems, including but not limited to, items not covered, noises, squeaks, etc. Intermittent issues are not product failures. (MEANING IF IT IS ACTING WIERD BUT DOESNT DO WHATEVER IT WAS DOING WHEN THEY GET IT, THEY DO NOTHING AND YOU PAY FOR THEM TO HAVE LOOKED AT IT)
I DONT KNOW ABOUT YOU GUYS BUT THATS ALMOST EVERYTHING!!!!!!
WHAT DO THEY COVER????
THEY COVER YOUR ELECTRONIC DEVICE IF FOR NO REASON AT ALL IT STOPS (OF WHICH NOT BEING CAUSED BY YOU OR ANY PREVIOUS OWNER- THIS MEANS IF THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID SOMETHING TO IT OR JERRYRIGGED IT TO WORK AND IT STOPS ON YOU YOU ARENT COVERED)
Likelyhood is if something happens to your electronic device it is going to be one of 5 things:
1. You drop it onto something hard or into a liquid.
2. It gets water dammaged from some sort of liquid spill
3. It gets stolen or lost
4. You accidently break it or scratch it up
5. It starts acting glitchy or messed up or slow (which isnt covered unless its so horrible they cant deny something's wrong)
NONE OF THESE ARE COVERED. THIS IS 95% OF WHAT WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN IF SOMETHING DOES.
SO WHY BUY SQUARETRADE INSURANCE? IF IT IS SUPER CHEAP AND IS WORTH COVERING THAT RANDOM STOP OR BREAK FOR NO REASON.
