Most of us have collected coins from time to time. Not maybe as seriously as myself who has many albums but simple Commemorative Coins, like Crowns etc. These are usually thrown in the back of a drawer and in most cases, due to the sheer volume of them, are worth very little.
If you ask may people what makes a valuable coin their answer might be something like...if it's gold, if it's old, if it's rare etc and this is often the case however many other reasons can make a coin expensive. An example would be a mis-strike, a rare die being used, a low mintage in that particular year.
Next time you sell your coins check the dates. Type them into the search bar on ebay and see what they are worth. Type a proper description including a die number (if relevant).
Watch out for rare date coins?
