wedding dressHaving read many of the reviews regarding shoddy wedding dresses bought through Ebay from abroad, I feel I have to tell you about the wonderful dress I bought from Shanghai, China. I felt my options were somewhat limited as I was getting married in the Caribbean, and being a 'plus size' I didn't want to look like some hideous oversized meringue! I found my dress from Waimanman just one hour before the auction finished on a Sunday night, and in that time they replied to my question regarding the measurements. This was a dress that had been returned because the fit wasn't correct for the original buyer, anyway I decided to take a chance and bought the dress for £6.50 plus £39 for postage. At the end of the day it wasn't a lot to lose if it was no good. Five days later it arrived and I was stunned at the quality and workmanship in the dress. Ok, so I had to take in the straps (it was an off the shoulder style) but that took me no time at all. Just the decorations on the dress would have cost more in a haberdashers than I paid for the whole dress. Everyone who came out to our wedding, or has seen the photos since has said what a beautiful dress it was. More importantly I felt great in it and my husband loved me in it, what more can anyone ask? It is possible to keep wedding costs down by buying through Ebay, I bought many accessories this way, and not always the most obvious routes. For example, I wanted silk orchids to wear in my hair, but instead of buying from the usual outlets I ordered them from Stems and Stuff on Ebay and simply cut off the stems, just as beautiful but much cheaper than from wedding retailers. Just make sure you check out the seller's feedback before you bid for anything, and if you're happy with what you read, then go for it.
