For the first time ever I sent money to the USA via Western Union. The next day I found that my credit card had been "STOPPED" by my bank, when I was trying to pay for a holiday. On Contacting the bank they told me that any transaction for W.U. by a customer always has the account held as this is one of the most used scams by unscrupulous people that they come across. Ususally the payer is requested to send a payment by W.U. which is picked up by the receiver almost immediately and they never send the goods or comply with the trabsaction.
In short, I was strongly advised to refrain from using W.U. as a payment method. Perhaps when a bank gives you such advice it should be well taken notice of!!
