Want to raise money for charity or simply create awareness of your business, then here are a few ideas to give an event a bit of sparkle.  For the brave, pubs are now allowed to conduct poker and bingo evenings.  Before running an event make sure you are aware of laws and regulations as well as paperwork that must be kept when organising such an event.  In pubs, you are permitted to take payment for bingo tickets and play for cash prizes.  However all the money taken in must be returned in prize money.  For example if you charge £1 for a set of tickets and you have 30 people taking part, you must give £30 in cash back as the prize money, no other money can be deducted.  The same goes for a game of poker, whatever is staked must be returned in prize money.  There are also limits on the amount of prize money, for bingo it is £2500 a week and poker is £500 in a week.

For fundraising, bingosupermarket sells football team scratch cards.  You have say 30 football teams printed on a card, with space for a nameor contact number.  You ask for say 50p from each person who fills in their name on the space below the team andfill the card taking £15.  You then offer a prize of say £10 cash to whoever reveals the correct team that is named under a foil on the card.  You can retain the £5 for the event.
