Hellebores can be grown in any garden whether it be in the ground or in containers. They come in many different colours, species and varieties. Most are winter flowering and many are evergreen. Click on this link to check our Hellebore availability.
In general Hellebores prefer deep shade to light shade. The Lady series is an exception as it will tolerate plenty light. The soil should be moist and woody / open . A sandy soil may drain too quick and a clay soil again may dry out too much or in winter it may hold too much water. A rich fertil garden soil would be ideal. You can grow them in containers using either either topsoil or a mixture of a good compost and topsoil. Feed the plants in spring regardless of where you grow them.
The plants are evergreen in most winters with large , shiny , leather looking leaves. The leaves are made up of leaflets which may have serrated edges. Flowers may appear as early as December and continue through to late spring / early summer. The plants are fully hardy and will withstand any harsh weather. The general opinion is they are easy to look after if given the correct conditions.
