Leather Types on Furniture

We constantly get asked about the different types of leather used on our furniture...To help you we will now give you a short guide to what is what...Leather varies greatly just like everything else and you should be aware of what you are buying...ANILINE or SEMI ANILINE leather is considered the best and is mostly used on expensive sofas...Sometimes called cowboy leather..Whilst it looks great it can have a tendency to mark easily...It is matt in finish and very natural in look.Usually expensive to buy and expensive to keep looking good...Best on antique type designs.. CORRECTED GRAIN is leather which has been corrected for marks and colour matched...It is the standard leather in everyday use.It has a slightly grainy appearance and is matt in finish....BICAST leather is the cheapest..This is basically reconstitued leather which has been UPVC coated to give a shiny look...It can be legally called leather but is partly man made....Finally there is "FAUX"   ...just a nice sounding word for PVC...Always ask about the leather grade before buying...good luck and thanks for reading
