Having purchased a 7 ton log splitter   by Powerhouse I was delighted that it arrive very quickly  . It was extemely heavy  and the delivery man could have done with a trolly !   It assembled  fairly easily  and  seemed to chop the small ammount of wood I had available.

I posted feedback for the firm from Suffolk  as I was happy with the product . The guarantee was in the box  and this was a firm in usa  but as It was uk supplied I was under the assumption  that the uk division would honour the guarantee.

When the wood arrived to be chopped with splitter stared off ok but would not  start a second time a promptly tripped my fuses . The plug tested out of so tried again . Fuse tripped so can only assume a fault in starter or motor .

3 weeks later  and many emails  no sign of replacement  or offer to refund . Just a run arround.

Very dissapointed  in the product and after sales service  so buyers beware .

WE bought the 7 ton one  which was not upto the job so I would hesitate to buy a smaller one. Incidently the price  has also increased  !! in the 2 months since I bought one .

Yet more emails /questions now 3 weeks since I first had a problem  . Watch this space  !!!!

NOW  5 WEEKS NOR REFUND OR REPLACEMENT   PLENTY OF EMAILS  & PROMISES

I did get the item check by my local electician and his comment was lucky you had the trip on the electrics as it could have blown  the main fuse box  !

6 weeks later  plenty of promises no splitter forthcomming  

7 weeks later

Still no refund  & I  see another name selling the same  and the same problem arrives ok  when fails  no refind or  replacement forth comming  . check the feedback  !

CONCLUSION  A NICE TOY  but not fit for purpose ie to split  enough wood  to run a burner !

Watch this space   as an on going saga  !

have heard from others who have problems, leaking fluid   replaced  , same fault on 2nd one , faulty motors  .
DO NOT BUY   !! 

No one seems to have one that when replaced works or  no replacements forthcomming  & no sign of replacements  as promised .

0ct 23 yet another week gone by and another email with promises of replacement  on its way

31ST OCTOBER   STILL NO REPLACEMENT  

 8TH NOVEMBER  PLENTY OF PROMISES NO SPLITTER

22 nd november  still nothing  but a host of emails from other buyers on ebay with similar problems  ,no replacements and now emails not being answered as well 

Trading standards  now involved too

26/11/06  company sylvan  now " uk direct "  and selling more wood splitter now   same email  address  i know got the same customer service rep reply when i emailed re replacemnt  splitter 

still no replacement   and others are contacting me with  leaking  splitters  & power failours

SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TRADE ON EBAY  !!!

NOW JANUARY   HAVE BOUGHT A DIFFERENT SPLITTER FROM MACHINE MART  COST £199   AND FULL UK WARRENTY  AT THEIR STORES

STILL NOTHING FROM UKDIRECT  OR SYLVANIAN COMPANY   . THEY DO NOT HONOUR THEIR WARRENTIES

 A YEAR LATER STILL NOTHING  TRADING STANDARDS  CAN HELP  AND I AM STILL GETTING EMAILS FROM OTHER DISSATISFIED  EBAYERS WHO LIKE  MYSELF HAVE FAULTY  ITEMS   

PLEASE BEWARE  OF  THESE COMANY'S   AS EBAY WONT ACT  AND PAYPAL  WONT EITHER  .

SYLVAN  CO USA    DOES NOT ANSWER EMAILS   OR HONOUR  ITS GUARANTEES 

AM STILL GETTING  EMAILS FORM OTHER EBAY BUYERS  WHO ARE IN SAME SITUATION  WHY WONT THEY ACT  AND BAR THIS US SELLER  FROM UK  AT LEAST

now 2008   and I am sill getting emails from other dissatisfied buyers  so apparently the lovly debbi is still answering emails and doing nothing  

I wish ebay would ban this item as it is faulty  and dangerous too

I am sorry for you all  but cant do anymore than post the review
