Atlas Editions Diecast 1/1250 Scale Warship USS Hornet (CV-8) ~ 1941 to 1942.

This is your opportunity to own a desirable replica of this famous warship from the UK Atlas Warships Series.  It is fully assembled and painted and comes mounted on an attractive black display stand with a brass plate bearing the warship's name.  

USS Hornet was a short lived but outstanding Yorktown-class carrier of World War II, notable for launching the Doolittle Raid, as a participant in the Battle of Midway, and for action in the Solomon Islands before being irreparably damaged and sunk during the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands in October 1942.  Her name was struck from the US navy lists on Jan 1943.

The miniature measures 220 mm in length x 58 mm tall overall (8.6" x 2.25").

SERIES FEATURES

For a full description, please read the Atlas 1/1250 Series Review in my e-bay store. 

Only the hulls are diecast.  The inset deck and upper works are high quality injection-moulded ABS plastic, affording good upper-works detail. 

Fore and aft flagpoles where present, although apparently delicate, are spring-steel, drilled and cemented into the diecast hull.  

The hulls are frequently cast in two pieces, an upper and lower section.  These and the upper works have been glued together using a clear resin cement.  

While painting quality on the whole is good, assembly and finishing varies from model to model.

DETAILED INFORMATION

The model is mint and boxed and comes stowed in a clear inner blister pack.

The box measures 100 mm x 260 mm x 50 mm and weighs approx 250 grams including the model.  It will be shipped in a stiff cardboard box to ensure safe transport. 

These replicas are not toys but collector's items.  They have many small parts making them unsuitable for children under 12 years of age.
