This is the original Moviola (cutting or editing machine) used by acclaimed film maker Julian Doyle who famously worked as editor, additional photograper, visual FX & 2nd unit director for the classic films:
'Monty Pythons' Life Of Brian, Holy Grail & Meaning of Life' and Terry Gilliam's 'Brazil', & 'Time Bandits'.
The above films were edited to their final cut with this machine.
it stands approximately 5ft high, is in full working order and has been meticulously cleaned and all moving parts have been appropriately lubricated. Obviously after such an outstanding career it bares a nominal degree of marking and wear-and-tear that you would expect for a veteran tool of classic film-making.
This Moviola was retired shortly after being used to edit the Kate Bush video for 'Cloud-Busting' with Donald Sutherland that Julian Doyle directed in 1985 and has been in storage until i was given permission to find it a new home.
Given the dominance of digital editing technology nowadays machines like Moviolas have become relics of a golden age of movie-making and are as such typically desirable to movie-enthusiasts, collectors, museums and educational facilities.
The Moviola has two bright lights within it's apparatus which would give it the potential to be a remarkably unconventional and striking lighting feature to decorate a home or workplace.
Two extra arms are included.
