Rob English, award winning frame builder and all-round nice chap was riding in the Tour of Aufderheide when his bike left the road on a fast descent and he hit a tree.
His injuries include multiple broken bones and he remains in hospital, with doctors saying that his recovery is going to take a long time, which will also prevent him from working.
An appeal has been launched to try to soften the blow to him and his family, and as part of this Matt and I want to offer one of our Dalsnibba (or Trollstigen) race frames for auction to the highest bidder - all money received will go to Rob's fund*.
The frame in question is a mixture of Columbus MAX, Spirit MEGA, Zona, swaged 853 and Paragon Machineworks.
For calliper brakes the model is the Dalsnibba (grey bike in the pictures) and with discs it's the Trollstigen (black with the "Toucan" fade in the pictures).
We'll build the frame for the winner, geometry will of course be specific to whoever that is.
Given who this appeal is for we'll offer the winner the choice of a carbon ISP or the standard swaged 853 seat tube, and whilst these frames are normally for internally wired electronic group sets we can braze on cable stops for a cabled group if required.
It'll be supplied unpainted, but we can arrange for it to be painted to the winners specification, along with a fork of the winners choice (we recommend either the ENVE RD or Whiskey No7 bolt-thru) at the winners cost.
International bidders are welcome - we'll post this to wherever the winner lives, or they are welcome to come and collect it from our workshop in Crystal Palace.
