Bagley Carnival Uranium Glass Biscuit Barrel
Offered is a wonderfully luminous green vase/pot. Made in Britain in the 1930s/40s. The glass get's luminosity from a quantity of uranium that is added to the glass mix. Mainstream uranium glass production ceased in the immediate post-war period when the government confiscated all the ore from the glass producers. The shape/range of this item is Carnival. A lovely item, with a reasonable amount of luminosity in daylight. An excellent addition to your collection.
Condition: this is a vintage item that was made for use. There are no chips cracks or damage of any kind. There very slight signs wear to the surface.
Luminosity: dense areas glow in daylight! Spectacular under UV.
5 1/2" high
5" at the widest point.
Is uranium glass 'safe'?
