1) THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING 1956 5th impression. 423 pages plus fold-out map. With dust jacket marked "fifth impression".

2) THE TWO TOWERS 1956 4th impression. 352 pages plus fold-out map. With dust jacket marked "third impression".

3)  RETURN OF THE KING 1955 1st impression. 416 pages plus fold-out map. The third state of the first impression with the signature"4" and sloping text to page 49. With first state dust jacket with advertisements for the three books in the series on the rear flap without any reviews.

CONDITION

1) FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING

Boards are in very good plus condition, clean with just a few very light marks or areas of mild discolouration. Slight softening to spine tips.  Spine slightly faded. Front board very slightly bowed. Fading to red on top edge of text block. Slight spine lean.

Internally there is a very small, neat previous owner's name to the front endpaper. Foxing to front and rear endpapers which are also browned at the margin. Otherwise pages and map are clean and in excellent condition throughout.

The dust jacket is not price clipped showing the original price of 21s. Clean with just a couple of light marks. Spine slightly darkened. Mild wear/chipping to spine tips and corners. Rubbed at the folds. The jacket is repaired internally with what appears to be archival tape along the full length of the front fold, the rear joint and half the length of the front joint. A couple of other smaller tears including a 2.5cm tear to the top edge of the front flap. The jacket is now protected in a removable acetate sleeve (not shown in the photos).

A very nice, very early set of Tolkien's acclaimed trilogy.

All books are bagged, carefully wrapped in bubble-wrap and then packaged in a cardboard book box.

All books under £200 will be sent by first class recorded delivery within 48 hours of receipt of payment.

Books at £200 and over will be sent within 48 hours by special delivery with insurance to the full value of the book. There will not be any additional charge for this service, above the stated postage costs.

Shipping overseas

All books under £200 will be sent by Royal Mail airmail within 48 hours of receipt of payment.

Books at £200 and over will be sent within 48 hours by Royal Mail 'Airsure'  (or 'International Signed For' where 'Airsure' is not available) with insurance to the full value of the book. Once the book has been mailed I will Email you notification together with a reference number which will enable you to track or trace your delivery online. There will not be any additional charge for this service above the stated shipping costs.

Combined postage

I will combine postage/shipping costs. Where more than one item is purchased please request an invoice when you have finished buying. I will send an amended invoice reflecting the reduced postage/shipping costs.
