Weever was a graduate of Queen's College, Cambridge and an interesting character. Described in an essay by Ian Wright on the Queen's College website, as "an extraordinarily interesting and eccentric character - connoisseur of graveyards, tobacco-enthusiast, sycophant, satirist, dwarf, penner of dirty ditties, egotist, pugnacious Lancashire man and proud of it!"
Folio, worn period full calf, both boards detached, spine with 5 raised bands. Page edges red.
The book measures 20cm by 29cm.
The contents lack the engraved title page, portrait of Weever, pp497-500 and the final 17 pages of index. Our collation: ,1-496,501-871pp, with a number of wood-engravings to the text, some full-page.
