Works of M. De Lamartine
Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine
Paris: Pagnerre - L. Hachette et cie - Furne et cie (1857-1859)
These books are in three uniform volumes, half green leather bindings with green marbled boards, red speckled page ends, red and black title/volume labels with gilt lettering, set consists of:
Volume 1: "Premieres Meditations Poetiques La Mort De Socrate", dated 1857.
Volume 2: "Nouvelles Meditations Poetiques Avec Commentaires", dated 1858.
Volume 3: "Harmonies Poetiques Et Religieuses Avec Commentaires et Poesies Diverses", dated 1859.
This is a three volume set of the works of Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine. What is not certain is whether this set was published as a set, or bound subsequently as a set, given that the volumes were published in 1857, 1858 and 1859 respectively. However, collectively I have described the set as the Works of M. De Lamartine. According to an Internet source: "Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine (21 October 1790 – 28 February 1869) was a French writer, poet and politician who was instrumental in the foundation of the Second Republic."
Generally these books are in fair condition overall. More specifically, externally they are rubbed and bumped, the title label absent from volume 2, there is slight splitting to the spines, some scuffing to the leather, and slight shelf wear; internally there is some age browning and foxing, some splitting to the internal spines at the pastedown, otherwise remaining bound.
Unpackaged these books weigh 1510g (approx 3lb 5¼oz), and are 18 x 12.25 cm (12mo) or approximately 18 x 12.25 inches in size.
