THE WEST END RAILWAY DISTRICT, LONDON
A DOUBLE page from an issue of the ILN with a double page engraving showing :-
a birds eye view of part of West London, several parts of the city are numbered, and these numbers are explained at the foot of the print – they show: –
Knightsbridge barracks, site of the exhibition in 1851, Serpentine River, Hyde Park, Brompton Road, South Kensington Museum, the Oratory, Trinity Church, Hospital for Consumption, Pelham Crescent, Sloane Street, Kings Road Chelsea, St Luke's church, Cremorne Gardens, Battersea Church, Battersea Bridge, Battersea Park, Chelsea Church, Cheyne walk, Cadogan pier, Botanic Gardens, Chelsea Hospital, military school, St Barnabas Church, Bridge Road, Victoria Bridge (this bridge was demolished and Chelsea Bridge built in its place), – the bridge you can see under construction is not named but is in the place where now stands a railway bridge at Chelsea – West end Railway Station, Lambeth Water Works, Grosvenor embankment, Chelsea Water Works, distillery, Grosvenor Road, military clothing stores, Eagle Tavern, Pimlico Pier, Pimlico gasworks, Trinity Church, Vauxhall Bridge, Phoenix gasworks, Prices Patent Candle Works, Belmont House, Nine Elms Station Warehouses, South Western Railway Station, Nine Elms, South Western Railway, Vauxhall Gardens, the Thames.
as can be seen in the scan there is some marking, and there are small holes, (six) along the central fold where the print has been bound, and there are several small tears to the edges, which can be cut out, without making the borders too much smaller
There is unrelated text on the reverse, including an article on the St Lawrence from Montréal to Quebec, presents for African kings
The Double page measures overall approximately 400 x 545 mm (16 x 21.5 ") - (The whole image cannot be shown as it will not fit in a scanner)
There is some age yellowing possibly with some spotting - please check the larger picture for condition.

This item will be packaged in a tube unless otherwise requested. (which may have an effect on packaging costs)
