Originally published in 1871 just 5 years prior to our country's first centennial celebration! In the culture of the time boys wore dress until about the age of 4 years just like the girls. Then they graduated to short and/or long pants. Of course you could use just the jacket draft patterns to outfit your little man! What could be more darling for historical reenactment than this?

This pattern is for a boy four years old, or thereabouts. It will require three and a half yards of material, twenty-seven inches wide, and merino, poplin, serge, plaid, or linens, are suitable."
