Up for auction is a FINE 112-year old two-volume set about the life of a pivotal British monarch, entitled THE REIGN OF QUEEN ANNE, by Justin McCarthy.  Published by Harper & Brothers in 1902.  First Edition.  386pp; 370pp.

A bright and strikingly well-preserved set, bound in forest green cloth with bright gilt-stamped lettering on cover and spine.  Top page edge gilded.  Ornate owner's name penned on flyleaf, with "Christmas 1902."

A superior example, in largely unblemished condition.  McCarthy was an Irish nationalist politician and author who wrote prolifically on subjects of English history.

Queen Anne reigned from 1702 to 1714, a pivotal period in English history following the reign of William and Mary after the Glorious Revolution.  McCarthy's study includes chapters on "The London of Queen Anne," "Jonathan Swift," "Sacheverell," "The Union with Scotland," "Bolingbroke at his Zenith," "The Huguenot Refugees," "Wales Under Queen Anne," "'Swedish Charles' and Czar Peter," and many more.

Good luck!

Good luck!
