You are looking at the very reluctant sale of my lovely old Rover 216s im upset to sell it now, but due to having to scale down my toys and the need to free off some cash she has got to go,Especialy as I have not been using it much in the last few months.
This rover was believed to of been stood unused in a dry garage from 1992 until 2007 due to the original owner passing away and his wife (who didn’t drive) leaving the car in her garage until she passed away in 2009.It then passed through a couple of motor traders until a friend of mine acquired it in late 2009 with 39,000 miles on and used it regularly to go back and to,to south Wales and run the mileage up to 55,000 miles
In June 2010 @47,000 miles he had a major service and tune up by a local garage ,Including the cam belt changed Also rocker cover gaskets ect and heater switch ect.(invoice to prove)
I have just changed the oil again with quality synthetic, and used a genuine rover oil filter (Unipart)
Its just been moted with no advisories whatsoever ,The MOT tester commented on how good the car looked underneath and said he hadn’t tested one of these for at least 7-8 years as he thought they where all extinct.
I’m a very big fan of old rovers and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this when he bought a newer rover. But due to my other toys and very busy work and family commitments. I only got to use the car a few times during last summer and had it on display in a couple of classic car shows in north Wales where it received a lot of attention and some great comments. As these cars are very rare now (when did you last see one).
There is the original rover book pack with service book and even a original Austin rover sales broucher and a good few years mot`s to prove mileage and a couple of old invoices
Like I say the car is very original and untouched it has some great old features like
Original rover (Phillips radio cassette)
Fitted rover over matt set
Dealer number plates
It was missing a front mud flap but I managed to source new old stock genuine rover front mud flaps which are now fitted to keep the originality, Also its had a brand new front n/s indicator,(again new old stock)
She has 56,000 miles on the clock which is very genuine the engine runs and ticks over nice and pulls very well ,And feels surprisingly modern to drive
The clutch and gearbox are fine as are the brakes and tyres (Tyres are actually excellent)
The interior is in excellent condition and really is faultless
The bodywork is very straight with only a couple of very minor marks and a couple of scratches in the centre of the boot lid,Im told it has had new door bottoms fitted and some lower body tidying a few years ago which was obviously a tidy job .
To sum up this old Rover it is in very good condition and has had a easy life .…Its a very useable classic with years ahead of it…You are more than welcome to view before bidding. Just email to arrange
