This unusual glossy black & white real photograph postcard contains no less than eight separate views none of which are individually titled but in a white panel at the centre of the bottom edge is NTH FRODINGHAM. Although printed, this is written by hand in black block capitals.  The main views are the four rectangular corner views which are:

Top left: A corner cottage with wooden fencing over a road bridge with a man walking it. A house on the far side of the bridge.

Top right. Town centre with a War Memorial outside a shop, maybe pub in distance and there is a person riding a bicycle.

Bottom right More of town centre with an ink X marking a large building which is signed COMMERCE. Horse drawn cart in distance on unmade road.

Bottom left Looking down street to commercial building with wall advertising JOHN SMITH’S TADCASTER ALES. Horse drawn open back cart passing this point.

The central oval shape is of medium size and contains a view of the parish church with a Norman tower

The small oval to the left of centre is a village street with women in long dresses/skirts on the pavements outside small cottages.

Top centre small oval is of a male & female outside a row of terraced buildings of varying sizes.

The small right oval has view down a long terrace of buildings and with a small child just visible in bottom left foreground.

All the views then have a fairly wide white inner border and then a wider black outer border.

Printed upside down on the reverse is POST CARD. To the left of the divider is CORRESPONDENCE. Along the left edge of the card is C.P. SERIES – WEST PARK STUDIOS HULL

http://www.paul-gibson.com/social-history/the-postcards-of-charles-pinchbeck.php

This website identifies Charles Pinchbeck as the photographer running West Park Studios which he did from C1905 – 1910 at which time it became a cycle shop. It also refers to C.P. SERIES, but only surmises this is a reference to Pinchbeck’s initials.

To the right of the divider is ADDRESS ONLY. A green George V ½d stamp is affixed which has a partial small single ring postmark which is barely legible for ??RTH FOR??  B  SP9 12.

There is an ink written address and message in which the writer refers to the ink X marking her uncle’s house.

This card is in good condition with no creases or tears. There are several very tiny nibbles to the gloss layer around all the edges. There is a little wear to the tips of the corners. When the card is tilted in the light shallow indentations can be seen across the corners where the card has been held in an album for many years. There is some slight fading to the quality of the photographic printing in the white inner border area. The reverse is in crisp firm and clean condition but the card is a little discoloured with age on both sides.

My photos are taken in close up to give as much detail as possible of the subject and to show any defects which may be present. I have more old and unusual postcards at auction if you care to look. Please bear in mind that this enhances both the subject AND the defects I adjust postage for multiple purchases.                                                                                                                                                                 PLEASE NOTE I ONLY ACCEPT PAYMENT THROUGH PAYPAL FROM OVERSEAS WINNERS.

I am dismantling a massive postcard collection box by box and album by album. I don’t know what subjects are yet to come so please keep checking back on my listings.

Thanks for looking
