Classic Lightweight bicycle Handbuilt in the 1930's by MERLIN
Wonderful and very rare, pre-war bike handbuilt using Reynolds 531 lightweight tubing, and Merlins trademark forward facing front dropouts (see catalogue scan). A very rare and beautiful machine.
Believed built originally in 1938 and recently re-enameled in black, beautifully restored using rare period correct components. Frame built with distinctive forward facing front drop-outs Period equiped for leasurely touring with rare vintage components:
Hubs: Period correct - 'Airlite Continental' large flange front hub and Sturmey Archer AM three speed rear hub.
Rims: Period correct - Constrictor 'Conloy' 26 x 1-1/4 alloy rims and new Michelin tyres.
Headset: Period correct - Chater-Lea Head clip, with 3" chrome handlebar stem and Alloy bars.
Brakes: Period correct - GB 'Hiduminium' callipers and early levers.
Chainset: Period correct - Williams cottered.
Brooks professional leather saddle
NOS Bluemells all rounder mudguards.
