Sub-Type: Steel-string Guitar
Brand: Harmony Stella Type: Acoustic Guitar
Up for grabs is a very rare Harmony built Stella H165 Parlour size guitar made in 1943 as dated from an interior factory stamp.

The H165 with the Stella headstock logo with early swoosh under lettering indicative of the era first featured in Harmony's catalog in 1940 according to research I've done on the web.

It has a body shape like a Martin 0-15 or 0-17 of the era but with a 12 fret to body fingerboard.

It is in very good overall condition with minimal wear and tear for its age.

It has the original Waverley open geared tuners with ebony buttons that are in fully working order. The bone nut looks original also. The thin frets are original and in good order with plenty of life left.

I can't be exactly sure of the fingerboard material but I looks like it could be ebony. The bridge has been replaced as has the bone saddle. The neck is straight and does not look to have had a reset and neither does it need one.

At some point a previous owner installed a tailpiece leaving drill holes behind but they don't affect the guitar structurally and are very discrete. The harmony catalog features a picture of this model with a pin bridge to confirm that it didn't originally have a tailpiece. The bridge pins are vintage ebony pins I sourced. The bridge is a replica replacement from an old Favilla guitar.

This is great for early country blues and slide guitar. Finger pickers will also enjoy this for its authentic ladder braced tone.

No case I'm afraid but will be securely packed in a polystyrene interior guitar box and cardboard packaging.

It's fitted with Martin silk and steel strings but the high E broke as I was tuning up and unfortunately I don't have a replacement. The guitar suits open tunings and is currently tuned to open G.

The action is 3mm at the 12th fret but room to lower action at saddle
