Here we have for sale my 1972 Beetle project that never quite got finished.
The story starts many years ago. "Ben" as he was named was purchased from a friend of a friend, with a view that we would finish the couple of little jobs that were outstanding and he would be my first car. Upon closer inspection once the car was home, we discovered that the "friend" was nothing of the sort, the entire floor of the car was rotten. Over the next couple of years, I saved as much money as I could to get the car up together. The entire floor was repaired with new heater channels and sills being added. The rest of the body panels were replaced and the car was re-sprayed, re-wired and a reconditioned engine was added (I think that it was a 1300 from memory - it was a long time ago) as well as things like the lights being replaced with US spec ones. The engine will need a service, but has not done any miles aside for a few when it was fitted; so should give good service. Unfortunately, things had taken too long and I needed a car to get to work and so I could no longer spend the time and money to get "Ben" up together. Fast forward more years than I care to remember and I still have not finished restoring him. Rather than let him sit in my garden for all eternity, I've decided (with heavy heart) to sell him, so that someone else can finish what I started and get some enjoyment from him. As I said, most of the work is done, there are some parts that need replacing, window seals and various bits and bobs and things like the brakes etc etc will need a thorough going over. The interior also needs to be fitted. A new set of tyres will be needed and the wheels themselves could do with a bit of TLC. The good news is that I have the interior in my garage (the rear seat is not included, it was removed to house a speaker wall) along with about ten years of assorted spares and odd and sods (which I will collect up together) which are included. I'm not looking for a fortune here, however please be aware that you are bidding to buy - not view, kick tyres and barter. "Ben" is sold as seen and no warranty is implied or included. Obviously he won't fit in a jiffy bag, so you will need some means of picking him up; please make sure you have this BEFORE you bid. A viewing can be arranged; however you will need to give me a bit of a heads up. I'm also selling a pair of Cobra Le-Man velour seats (with mounts) that I bought to go inside, they can be found elsewhere on eBay. Payment will be in cash - no bankers drafts, cheques, shirt buttons, lint or promises. I would consider taking paypal as a last resort. Any questions, let me know Thanks for looking On 29-Jul-12 at 18:15:27 BST, seller added the following information: Having reviewed the listing, I should add there are a couple of small patches of rust that need attention; but nothing major. On 31-Jul-12 at 18:43:08 BST, seller added the following information: FURTHER UPDATE - I've been going through the paperwork and have found/remembered some information. |
