You've no doubt already seen this camper on eBay, as it was on a few months with a rather optimistic dealer - well I decided in my infinite wisdom to take a punt and buy it 'unseen' (Yes, I know I'm an idiot!). We had a romantic idea about restoring it and turning it into a lovely little camper. I'm not going to lie - I've bitten off more than I can chew. It needs more welding than I'm prepared to undertake, so I'm going to move it on at a loss to see if there are any interested parties.

Good Bits
The Pinto appears to be in very good order. It starts (with a jump) on the button, with no choke, and ticks over surprisingly sweetly. A brief drive up and down the road reveals that the brakes work well, with a good handbrake. It was used and on the road until October last year, so it's not a basket case barn find. I've got a pile of old MoTs so it has been maintained. It may even pass a MoT with minimal aggro. That was going to be my first mission, but the extent of the bodywork issues has put me off investing any more money into it than I already have. The chassis looks to be in good order. It's got a thick coating of underseal, and I've had a good prod around and not found any areas of rust, other than the usual surface oxidisation you'd expect.

There are plenty of spares that could be harvested off it if you're looking for a donor, or want to make a few quid breaking it (I've neither the time, the space, or the inclination to do that)

Bad Bits
There's no way to sugar coat it - the bodywork is a mess! You know the score, it's a Mk2 Transit that's been 'looked after' by an eager old boy - Mismatched repair sections, hand painted exterior, plenty of odd touches etc, and as you can see from the photos, extensive areas will need welding. Assume every panel needs work, and you won't go far wrong. It also leaks. It has been stored indoors, and I've currently got it under a tarpaulin so it's not turning into a boat.

It's located in Somerset between Frome and Radstock, and it will be for sale for a couple of weeks. If there are no takers, it's off to the great scrapyard in the sky - which would be a real shame, but I sadly can't save it.

I'm starting the bidding at £300 which is a very a fair price considering what spares it could yield. It will obviously need to be trailered away (unless you're exceptionally brave/certifiable and book it in for at MoT near you!)

I won't arrange shipping or delivery, that's up to you.

More images will be added to the listing shortly...

PLEASE NOTE: The Transit is listed elsewhere so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time

EDIT: Wow - over 50 watchers already - didn't expect that!! Don't wait until the last minute to bid and miss out!!
