1985 MG Montego turbo,very rare car,this montego turbo is a former pre production/press car and was registered before the turbos where launched.
I have owned this car for allmost 8 years and it has been my pride and joy.
Being a early turbo it has some items only fitted to very early turbos,130mph standard clocks,marle deco seats,one shot up/down drivers window,tape holder and mirror in glove box,dark grey headlining,steel sunroof,black rear spoiler,thin rubber side strips etc
I have just put 12 months mot on it,and it has also had a oil and filter change,it has allways been garaged,i only drive it in the summer months and on dry days.
Has been uprated quite alot,heres the full spec-
2.5 inch lower with uprated springs and shocks.
285mm cross drilled,vented disc and kevlar pads.
7 1/2 x 16 motorsport alloys(very rare) in perfect condition with 205/50 16 tyers
free flow exhaust with one box(quite loud)
Full engine rebuild by last owner,including -
line homed block and main bearing quides
flywheel lightened and balanced and crank reground and balanced
full engine balance
skimmed head with obese exhaust ports and polished inlet ports
stripped and strapped intercooler.
Was rolling roaded at 242 bhp ! since i have owned i have turned the boost down,but its still VERY fast and alot quicker than a standard turbo.
Engine hasn't done alot of miles since rebuild,and still runs perfect,with no oil burn etc
i had the car painted moonraker blue,its original colour from factory was black,but it had been painted another colour by previous owner who had the car fully restored,i decided i wanted a colour which you could have at launch of the turbos and decided on moonraker blue.
i have spent ££££'s over years,a brand new fuel tank,uprated fuel pump,fully rebiuld carb,all engine sensors changed,alternater etc
Its in very good condition for its age,a few marks in paint,a few light dings,nothing bad,but a nice looking montego that get looks and comments where ever you go.
the interior is also in very good condition for its age.
a few jobs that need doing
the front electric windows dont work,(i have spare motors etc) the rear electric windows work.
the headlining material has come away from the board,i have a spare board to re cover.
car is very low and rubs on arches if two passengers are onboard,could do with being a inch higher.
over all a very clean car for its age,please remember it is 28 years old,so dont expect a new car.
Car is sorned at the moment,can tax at buyers cost,insurance is very cheap on a classic car policy,i pay £150 a year.
