Selling my Honda XL 600 R Paris-Dakar, taken in part-exchange against a Honda CBX 1000 Z, which i restored to "as new", and then subsequently sold to a collector, to add to his already extensive collection. I have owned it for 8 months, but unfortunately, my bad back does not like kick-starting a big single, so she must go to make way for electric start !! (weak excuse, but true)
Being a competent enthusiast, this bike has benefited from the following:-
1/ Full de-grease, check of all bearings, swing-arm and suspension linkages, rear shock absorber, forks, headstock, wheels etc, full clean and polish, re-grease as required, re-assembled/torqued.
2/ Front and rear brakes dismantled, cleaned, serviced, pistons lubed with red grease, re-assembled with copper grease & fresh Castrol Response Dot 4 brake fluid.
3/ Engine de-greased, cleaned, polished @ 40,100km, to include valve clearance check (all ok), new oil filter & O-ring, frame fully drained, gauze oil filter removed, cleaned/checked/re-fitted with new O-ring, new NGK spark plug, engine re-filled with Castrol Power 1 10/40 semi-synthetic oil, also exhaust system removed, prepared and re-sprayed to enhance the finish.
4/ Frame and bodywork de-greased, cleaned and polished throughout, new rear indicators fitted to match o/e fronts, new Renthal bar pad fitted.
5/ New front & rear sprockets + heavy-duty chain fitted.
In overall top condition apart from 26 yr age related marks to original paintwork, with a scuff to r/h side of tank, with a faint dent, + a few chips here and there on frame, also original paint. Wheels/ spokes/ hubs in excellent condition. Advertised with MOT until13/06/2013, taxed until 31/10/2012. Engine sounds fine, pulls like a train, bike rides really well. Also please note :- Mileage listed above is in kilometres, which equates to 25,148 miles. Which is about 975 miles a year from new ! Engine smokes a little on initial start-up, but soon clears as it warms.
Tyres will need replacing reasonably soon, if i was keeping her i would have fitted more road oriented tyres, but new owner can decide, depending on what its to be used for?
Viewings/inspection welcome, ramp available, test ride only with full cash in my hand, any questions, feel free to phone Neil on 07702 782754 Heathrow area.
