I'm very, very reluctantly listing this Mini.
I bought it so that we could go to Classic car shows as a family (its a pain trying to get 3 people in a MG Midget - it just doesn't go!) But we've moved house and I can't get it in the garage with my other cars (I'd hate to see it deteriorate in the poor weather - it deserves to be kept indoors) and we need a new kitchen more than I need 4 cars (so I've been told by SWMBO) So the Mini has to be sold - However, I'm only going to list it once - if it doesn't sell then I'll look into garaging it elsewhere. So onto the details; Its a 1989 Classic Mini Thirty - I believe this to be a limited edition - they made them in black or cherry red - a you can see this is a red one. There were only 200 made in red so its getting a rare car. Read more about these cars at; http://www.boraman.com/mini30/aboutmini30.html This one is very original with its original steering wheel, seats etc. It is MOT'd until May 2013 and taxed until the end of October so it can be driven away and enjoyed. These can also be insured cheaply on classic insurance - I paid just under £100 to have it added to my MG policy. It has a 998cc engine which is economical - it is very low mileage at only 76831 miles - it runs and drives very well and the engine starts first time everytime with no funny noises or smoking. It does have a small oil leak (as they all do). The bodywork is very solid with no obvious rust - it has been resprayed previously - this is the only letdown with the car - whilst it looks very smart and shiney - you can see that the preparation for the respray wasn't great as you can see sanding marks and the finish has orange peel texture in places - There is also some over spray on the wheels - this will come off easily with a celly wipe - I'm probably making it sound worse than it is, but I'd rather make it clear to a prospective buyer. The interior is smart with the original half leather seats - it has had new black carpets and there is a Sony CD player (with remote - as you can't reach it whilst driving!) and speakers under the rear seats. The steering wheel has been fitted with a drop bracket to give a more relaxed driving position (common modification). The boot has a brand new boot lining kit fitted as you can see in the pictures. The car has alloy wheels (for some reason these have Cooper centres?) they all have good tyres (including the spare) There is some history and old bills with the car. This Mini also has a tubular performance exhaust manifold fitted with an RC40 exhaust - this sounds great without being too loud (there is a very small blow from the exhaust - but thats me being picky and most people wouldn't even notice it!) It also has finned aluminium rear brake drums fitted. The previous owner spent a lot of money on new parts including front brake discs and pads, new shocks, new battery, service items like plugs, points etc, halogen angel eye headlamps. So to sum it up, a limited edition Mini with solid bodywork, a tidy interior, mechanically very good and taxed and tested! Use it as it is and enjoy, or respray it, put the stripes back on the sides and have an appreciating investment. I'd recommend viewing the Mini, or ask questions before bidding either by email or on 07970 213084 (at sensible times please) PLEASE DO NOT just email and ask "what is the reserve?". I'm not going to give this away and am not interested in a swap with anything. I do expect a buyer to make contact with 12 hours of the auction ending and the car collected and paid for with 5 days of the auction ending. You are bidding to buy, not to view or haggle with the price - I've been very thorough with my description and its probably the most accurately described car for sale Thanks for reading On 26-Aug-12 at 21:46:27 BST, seller added the following information: PLEASE NOTE - I made a slight mistake in the above listing - I put that it is one of 200 cars in red - it is in fact one of 2000 made - If you look at the weblink in the advert it states that 3000 Mini Thirties were made - 1000 in black and 2000 in red. |
