For sale my beloved M5. This car has been in the family for for the past 10+ years but now needs some repairs which I don't have time nor money to do.
1993 BMW M5 - E34 3.8l 5spd in daytona violet
Grey leather interior
17 inch magnesium throwing star alloys (with relatively new uniroyal rainsport tyres)
Currently not working. Initially there was a problem with the gearbox. Unfortunately as this was being repaired the engine seized. I believe is a piston ring failure but this needs to be confirmed.
Does have an MOT until September 2013

Given the amount of interest in taking the car on as a restoration project I have included some more detail on the condition of the car and all the possible faults that I could find.
This is not necessarily to scare people off, but just to make sure that people know what they are taking on.
Firstly the major items.
GearboxThe original gearbox got stuck in reverse after the clutch slave started leaking. This gearbox was removed and the clutch slave repaired. I found a replacement gearbox however this seems to have an issue with the synchro such that it could lock in gear. Additionally in the original gearbox one of the lay shaft bearings was gone which meant a lot of whine in 3rd and 5th.
So currently It has 2 non-working gearboxes. The next plan was to make one good gearbox from the two - I found a company called All Gears in Nottinghamshire (http://www.all-gears.co.uk) who have experience of the getrag 280 boxes who were able to do this.
EngineCurrently the engine won't turn over with the starter, I haven't had the problem diagnosed as yet but the garage who were working on the car believe that it is a dropped piston ring. (Part of the reason that the starter wont turn over the engine could also be due to the battery lacking charge as the car has now been stood for a few weeks.) There was also an oil leak from the sump gasket. I have a replacement gasket that I will include with the car along with a new oil filter. This was going to be the next job after fixing the gearbox.
Chassis/bodyThe car is 20 years old so there is an amount of rust on the sills (the jacking points are particularly bad which I think is typical of e34s), lower part of the front doors and under the car towards the rear. See additional photos below.
