You are bidding to buy a vauxhall Carlton 2.0 Diplomat with Mot until 9th June and Tax until Sepetember. Im offering it on her as i cant bring myself to scrap it. Its been such a reliable and sturdy workhorse for the past three years it seems a shame to scrap it. I was planning on keeping it, painting it Matt Black and lowering it for the RAT look and do something different to the VW crowd!

Essentially this was my car about 3/4 years ago, before i gave it to my brother who has run it for two years. Sadly he's ran it it into the ground, although he has changed the oil regualarly. He bascially used the car at weekends to go up and down the motorway visiting his missis and mountain biking. Infact just two weeks ago it went from London to Fort William and back with no issues and im currently using it for work.

Il start with the good points

Arches are solid (amazing for a carlton!)
Rear end is solid
Never ever fails to start.
Burns very little oil.
Autobox fine.
Taxed until september, mot until mid june
Lovely slippery leather with heated seats that actually work! Ideal for the cold mornings when you want to feel like your 80 with a bladder condition.

Not so good bits.
Its looks a shed, it's covered in scratches, theres paint pealing in numerous places. It so bad that i cant even take the dragon shopping in it (not necesarrily a bad thing then!). There are dints scratches all over the car.
It would be ideal to 'rat up'
Now please note, I HAVE ALL THE BITS TO GET THE CAR THROUGH THE MOT BUT THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE......
Fog lamp missing.
The roof lining fell down and is now held up with numerous drawing pins, resembling that of an Indians truck. Highly amusing.
Drivers window doesnt work.
The car went for an MOT down in london which was a mistake as they always go over board compared to up north.
To get through the test it will need the following
Side repeaters ( il throw some in)
Pair of wishbones
Droplinks (Next to nothing, hardly worth fitting 2nd hand. )
Rear drop links ( again next to nothing)
Possibly a track rod end
A tyre
Hand brake needs adjusting
Boot stuck shut.
It also needs two areas welding. One on the front passenger chassis leg behind the subframe and on the drivers side in front of the subframe. The metal around is solid and its easy to get at. Infact i was quoted £30 to patch it up by a local garage and im happy to take the car for it to be done for the lucky buyer. My brother was quoted £300 just to do the welding down in London! I have all the bits to do the MOT with, i may list them seperatly on ebay......
The main reason why the suspension is worn out is because its been to the moon and back with 44psi in the tyres in the same of fuel consumption.
While were on the subject the car will do a genuine 36mpg at 70-80mpg on the motorway but round town it is pretty heavy. The engine is the old 8V lump which go forever and can take huge amounts of punishment, it always starts and is actually pretty quick
There's no stereo, someone nicked it. I never realised Grundig tape players were such in high demand!. You can try and hum a beat to the rattles and groans if you get bored.
The engine could do with a service
The radiator leaks (although not to badly)

Now for the biggy, the car has done 271k! Infact the speedo stopped around 6months ago and my brother reckons it must be close to touching 300k now! I will throw in a replacement speedo or try and fix the existing one but im kinda proud that its reached this milestone and i really want to see it continue on the road.

A weekends spannering would see this car return to the road for another year and if it were painted matt black it would look even cooler. Its an ideal classic to run all year round without fear of stonechips or keeping it clean.

Im only selling because i have no use for it, i know these cars like the back of my hand, the mot work could be done within a day and to be honest i might just do that but I have 3 other cars and simply cant afford to run another.

As you can guess i have listed everything thats wrong with the car, it is sold as seen, no messers.I think i've been more honest than most on ebay and have listed everything wrong. Im not interested in selling it to the scrapman so please dont offer me money to take it away, I can do that myself. Viewing is welcome but please send me a message first so i can asses whetehr you sound normal. I dont want some lunatic coming to my house. Any messages that start with 'hiya m8' other other text slang wil be ignored because M8 is a bolt to me and you are clearly to lazy to spell properly.

Good luck all you shed hunters.
