Lenham Motor Company England Ltd
Find out where we are
This well established company for many years offers a range of services including, restoration, general repair, motorsport preparation and sales . Our company was established in February 1962 and was well known as the Vintage and Sports car garage. It was established by Julian Booty and could originally be found behind the Dog and Bear hotel in the picturesque village of Lenham in Kent. Very soon after starting the Vintage and Sports car garage Julian became interested in glass fibre and enrolled on a course to gain a better knowledge of the material, after the course he started designing and producing glass fibre body parts for sprites and midgets.
1968 - The company changed premises from Lenham, to a small village not far away called Harrietsham, where the company took residence in the old Harrietsham Bakery. This is when the name was changed to Lenham Motor Company. The company has always thoroughly enjoyed motorsport, and in 1969 a ‘Lenham GT’ was produced to compete in the STP 1600 GT championship where it had great success, and won.
1970 - Peter Rix joined the Company’s sales division, and a long reign of years followed this. We are very proud to still have Peter as a member of our team. Julian however retired two years ago, but still likes to get involved with some of our more interesting projects. He has recently helped us convert a midget into a Lenham Lemans Coupe, which we currently compete in the MG Midget Challenge with, and so far we are having great success.
1984 - Lenham Motor Company moved premises to just across the road, where we are still located today. The garage building is over 100 years old and is full of character. Indeed, it boasts two period, shell petrol pumps on the forecourt!.
2005 - Julian and Peter sold Lenham Motor Company to a long term friend, Andrew Actman. The company then changed its name to Lenham Sports Cars. Whilst under Andrew’s ownership the garage sold and maintained classic cars, the addition of restoration work enabled us to get involved in motorsport, one of Andrews keen interests. And so preparation work began on cars competing from Peking to Paris Rally! We also sponsored the MG midget challenge for 2 years, where, of course, Andrew competed!
2011 - Andrew sold the Company to a life long visitor of the garage; Scott Reynolds. We are now known as Lenham Motor Company England LTD, and pride ourselves in having such a reputable name. Under Scotts leadership we offer a high standard of services, providing you with all the skills necessary to keep your classic car on the road. We are continuing to be actively involved in motorsport, and have already restored a ‘Le Mans Coupe’ which has participated in three MG races, and we are currently on the leader board in First Place! With Scott’s enthusiasm we hope to offer a valuable service for many years to come.
