This is a reluctent sale, it belonged to an old school British hero, I have a four page letter from his son who is still alive and in his 60s and this will be supplied with the jacket along with his name and address. The original owner lost his entire family aged eight from TB. He did not go into a home but surived on his wits. Just before the War started he lied about his age and joined the army. He later joined the comandoes and ended up with the airbourne troops and the Para's. At the end of the war he spent 8 months in hospital after being machine gunned.  He got married and had a family working for 28 years without a single day off sick. to earn extra money for his family he bare knuckle boxed on London, Liverpool  and Salford Docks. He was 6Ft 1" and very tough but never spoke about the war. At 77 years old he had occasuion to take on a group of 20 year olds abusing a woman and knocked one of them down. He was a labouer all his post war life and over 400 people attended his funeral, he was known by what he did not what he said.

The full story is in the letter and I have just given a brief outline. The jacket itself is a first pattern but has had a field modification which apparently was common practise to add a full length zip, this can be clearly seen and you can tell it was done during the war from the material used. Obviousy its a very large size and is in excellent contion with wool cuffs. The zip will open so far but is stiff a little Bees wax will rectify this and the zip is in good condition.

The letter is very moving not only is this an extremely rare piece in great condition but with a persoanl history second to none. The letter reflects more about this mans character and because he did not talk much about the war the son knows little of his actual exploits, i am sure it would be possible to tracfe his service history but I will leave this to the buyer.

I am reluctent to sell this but need the money for another project, so I expect prompt payment, you can collect, or i will post world wide but only with insured courier post will be at cost.

Its has been suggested the label looks new, this is as far in can tell a result of the flash it looks different to the naked eye, also the zip is full length but two independant experst have poined out how the modification was made and it was made with war time material. Plus I have the letter from the chaps father withn his address so all the information will be easy to check after the sale this item is 100% original.
