2.0 Shakuhachi tuned at C at A440 made by Ken LaCosse/Mujitsu Shakuhachi

Made from a beautiful piece of Japanese madake bamboo, no cracks and in mint condition. It is a pleasure to hold and look at just as much as it is to play it.
The bore is natural (jinashi), coated with urushi which is the traditional way to make shakuhachi, the way it was made by the Komuso monks in the past. The weight is 350 grams.

The bore is on the wider side, which makes it very suitable for Honkyoku. The timbre is resonant and complex, healing and meditative. I am a beginner and had no problem playing it, practice/play was enjoyable from the beginning, and due to the quality of it it's an instrument that you can grow with for years to come. All fingering techniques work as expected, and the upper octaves are easily accessible. Tuned well at C which makes it suitable for lessons. The 2.0 length is common and has been since historical times.

A sound sample is available here, it's not the best quality, but hopefully it'll give an idea. Personal auditions are welcome in London, and we can organise something if you want to show it to your teacher.

Thanks for looking, and happy bidding!
