Each book we list has specific information as to condition. below are general notes that give you an overview of our thoughts when grading a book - these are offered here for guidance only, please ask if you have any questions.
VERY GOOD: may have a small flaw but nothing more than would be acceptable if buying from a retailer selling new books
GOOD: may have some small flaws – dustjacket: crimping around the edges very slight tears and maybe a little discolouration from age. Hardcover: maybe a slight fading or marking. Pages: slight edge marking and maybe some slight yellowing if book over 10 years old. Dedication/ book plate.
REASONABLE: may have damage to the dustjacket, slight damage to the hard cover and yellowing to the pages in line with age. Bigger dedication/book plate. ACCEPTABLE: showing signs of age. Dustjacket with some tears and discolouration. Marks, fading or damage to the hardcover. Pages yellowing, maybe some foxing due to age etc May have some pages missing/loose but not from the text section of the book – may have some underlining/highlighting (this will be mentioned in the listing if there). Foxing and age related problems
READING/ STUDY COPY: may have loose pages, lots of underlining, bad dustcover, cover damage, page curling, discolouration etc etc only older or rarer books will be listed in this condition others are recycled.
POOR: May have loose/missing pages. Damaged cover and general problems which will be listed. Only rare and old books are listed with this condition when it would be better to have a poor copy than no copy. Modern and readily available books will not be listed in this condition.
