Healthy, Beautiful Skin is not Achieved in One Night
Remember to not get frustrated…exfoliation is a process that takes some time. You are beginning your treatments with pores that are clogged with embedded dirt, dead skin cells and sebum. As you begin your treatments the sebum just under the surface will likely emerge as blemishes. This is normal. Breakouts may seem more pronounced since the acid is cleaning the pores more quickly than with regular cleansing products. Typically within the first 3 weeks, the skin begins to show improved clarity with very few breakouts. Deep cleansing and exfoliation is a “process” which takes some time to work. After the skin has cleared, It is also important to continue weekly treatments to keep the pores from becoming clogged.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the PH of your acids?
A. Planet Eden only sells un buffered (for deeper peels) acid with the PH around 1.2 ( dermatologist grade).
Q. What skin concerns does salycylic acid address?
A. Acne, age prevention, age spots, blemishes, crow's feet, enlarged pores, excessive oil, fine lines, hormonal acne, hyperpigmentation, ingrown hairs, men's skin, scaly skin, sun damage, uneven skin texture, uneven skin tone and rosacea.
Q. What does a salycylic acid peel feel like?
A: For most some slight stinging or burning sensation. Have a fan near you to stand in front to help lower the intensity.
Q. How long do you recommend leaving the salycylic acid on your skin?
A. First timers should try for no more than 3 minutes (or less), testing the skins tolerance. Your skin will let you know how long it can tolerate the product. I do not recommend anything over 10 minutes.
Q. Can I add this to my moisturizer?
A. Yes! Lower strength peels are safe to add into a cream ( a few drops is good) to give your favorite moisturizer a little boost!
Q. What can I expect after the peel?
A. Depending on your skins tolerance your skin will be slightly red or VERY red! Some light flaking can occur where the peel has reached deeply. Before doing the peel purchase some gentle cleansers and moisturizers (Cetaphil). ABSOLUTELY wear a high SPF (50+) when outdoors, your skin will be very sensitive to the sun for a few days to several weeks afterwards. Do not do a peel before you know you will be sunbathing or be exposed to the sun for many hours (wear a hat to shield your skin).
Q. Can the salycylic acid be used somewhere lese besides the face?
A. ABSOLUTELY! You can use the acid anywhere you have concerns. Use on your back, shoulders, neck and anywhere else acne is a concern.
Q. How long before I see results?
A. Remember this isn't a instant cure! It will take a minimal of 3-5 peels before you see improvement. I recommend 1x per week to start and build up to no more than 3x per week if you skin can tolerate the acids. You will not "peel" with every application, but your skin is still shedding years of dead cells. Remember your face will most likely be red and agitated after a peel, a good moisturizer is KEY to getting your skin back to normal as quickly as possible.
