The Short Version!

As much as it saddens me to say goodbye, I have to advertise and sell my much loved Mini Cooper, Rosie. The car is an MPi model, meaning it is a 1275cc with a Multipoint fuel injection system. I originally purchased the car September 2012 as a second car to use alongside our family Discovery while that was undergoing work as I needed a reliable way of getting to and from college. The car has been stored in a secure dry garage throughout my time with it, being cleaned and waxed on a weekly basis. It was recently detailed by a local company, including clay baring, wax, sealant and a machine polishing. Since then it has not been used other than the odd occasion, so is in exemplary condition. Due to being an Automotive Engineer in training, I’m extremely anal about keeping my vehicles in tip-top mechanical shape with no expense spared. The oil and filter was changed every 3000-4000 miles and whenever any engine work was carried out (head changed for ported/polished one). Reason for sale is that as much as I've enjoyed driving and owning her, it was no good for me driving the long distance between home and university in Hertfordshire and I wanted something more modern and a little quicker, so I changed to a Focus ST. That ST is now up for sale also to make way for a 300ZX Twin Turbo project.

Tax and all that good stuff.

The Car is not taxed due to it not being used and currently declared SORN. It would need to be either trailered away, or I could tax at the buyer’s expense once insurance had been arranged, as it is also uninsured.
MOT has been done in January with a small amount of welding to the sills being required to pass. There are now no advisories and it's ready to go once taxed!

Specification:

Since owning this wonderful Mini, I have fitted the following:
- Spax adjustable lowered shocks.
- Uprated MiniSpares rubber cones with adjustable trumpets front and rear.
- Ported and Polished cylinder head. (Intake Manifold Ported/Polished to match).
- New radiator fitted at the same time as head.
- MiniSpares 1.5:1 ratio Hi-Lift Forged Rockers.
- RetroSport Billet Alloy CNC Machined Thermostat Engine Steady (Rosejointed).
- H4 Clear Headlamp upgrade kit to replace the standard frosted ones.
- Boot-tidy kit with Union-Jack seat back.
- Vibe uprated parcel shelf speakers.
- Paddy Hopkirk Alloy Gearknob.
- Paddy Hopkirk Floor Mats.
- Paddy Hopkirk Gear Gaiter in Black Leather with red stitching.
- MiniSport Quick-shift kit.
- MiniSport 8.4” 4 pot alloy brake calipers in Titanium, with vented/drilled/grooved disks and EBC Greenstuff brake pads.
- Alloy Drop-bracket for steering column to lower steering wheel while MG TF seats were fitted. (Bracket still in place but easy to remove).
- An MPi standard airbox was sourced and fitted with a K&N Panel Filter (I was fed up of the induction noise from the aftermarket K&N filter already fitted).
- Aluminium road-legal Pressed Plates (Match the classic look perfectly).
- Brand new battery fitted on 1st December 2013.

Already fitted to the car/standard spec:
- Front 1.5o fixed camber bottom arms.
- 4 chrome spot/fog lamps. (Two outer – Foglamps. Two inner – Spot/Mainbeam Lamps). These are to replace the black-backed Rover ones to match the chromework.
- Half-leather, half cloth front and rear seats – In excellent condition with minimal wear to driver’s seat.
- Aftermarket headunit.
- Maniflow cat-back rear-side-exit exhaust with Stainless tip.


Plus a box of bits will come with the car, such as the standard gearknob, gaiter, etc.


There are two wheel options with the car. If I get the price I’m asking or a close to offer, I will include the 13x7” Deep-Dish Ultralites pictured, alongside the standard 13” sports pack alloys.
However, I will drop the price by £300 if the Ultralites are not wanted.

I also have a LCB Manifold/decat and Sportex centre exit twin 3” silencer for sale which has a flexi welded in to allow for flexing during engine movement available separate for £100. (The 3 branch LCB Manifold/decat makes a huge performance difference when paired with the ported/polished cylinder head. I didn’t notice how much of a difference it made until I re-fitted the standard exhaust system).

 

A little history about the car and Rover Mini’s, to the TARDIS!

The car is number 7465 from the last Mini to ever roll off of the Rover/Mini production line, being one of only a few hundred Cooper Classics made with the optional extra of the Sports Package (consisting of 13” wheels, wider arches and 4 front lamps). The Cooper ‘Sport’ then followed this model, with the above optional extras already fitted. Finally a limited run of 500 cars were produced, named the ‘500’s’, which signified the last 500 Mini’s to ever run off of the production line.

In 2012, the car took part in the annual London to Brighton Mini Run and the Blackpool Mini Run also (plaques on the parcel shelf). During my ownership, it was also taken to the 2013 Brooklands Mini Day, as well as the Mini Show at Brimley Hall. Both times being on the Cooper 2000 register (which the car is registered with – The 2000 Register keeps track of all of the 2000>onwards Mini Coopers made, being the last ones off of the production line).

 

The good, the bad and the ugly.

Unfortunately, the car is registered as a Category C on the V5. This is due to a front-end accident which the insurance company declared ‘too expensive to repair’ and therefore wrote the car off. However, it was later purchased from the insurance company by a body repair shop owner in 2011, who extensively restored the car back to its original condition. All of the front body-panels were replaced with OEM parts, including the fitting of 4 ‘chrome backed’ spot/fog lamps, to replace the standard ‘black plastic’ backed once which were damaged in the accident. The boot-floor was replaced with a new panel due to rust, as well as brand new sills, and the driver’s floor panel. Once these had been replaced, a full respray was carried out in the Mini’s original colour of Sonar Red. A VOSA VIC check was then carried out on 21st September 2011 (Certificate to prove), allowing the vehicle to be used on the road again after the accident damage was repaired. Fortunately, even being a write off, it was repaired to an exceptional standard and the price of insurance is entirely unaffected on the car.

Due to the car being previously a write off, the cars service history was removed by the insurance company (standard practice). Fortunately, I was able to print off the MOT records from as far back as 2006, so that gives some indication of the cars history. I also have a folder of receipts of most of the things I’ve bought for the car, including any work completed by a local garage and ex Rover mechanic.  Some parts receipts may be missing as I tend to throw them in a direction in which I cannot remember, when I opened the boxes of goodies being delivered to my door… But I do have a folder thick of the majority of parts purchased.

The car is in exceptional condition, although there are a few age related marks here and there. There is a small scratch on the front r/h fender (caused by someone walking past while the car was on display at the 2013 Brooklands Mini show). There is also a few tiny patches of rust under the rear windows (Photographs are available by request, these are very minor patches though and are just on the surface). The only real main point is that the passenger door skin could do with replacing due to bubbling occurring on the bottom of the door (A common issue but skins can be replaced without the need for a new door). Also a few weeks ago when I last used it, I noticed the window on the same door has trouble going back up again if you wind it down, but I didn't want to rip the door apart to investigate.
