Hi - This is an auction for my 2005 Honda CRF250R Motocross Bike.
I bought this bike at the start of 2012, after wanting to get into motocross. I bought it from someone, who explained that he bought it from his friend, who bought it new, making me the third owner. Before I bought it, it was basically a toy to take to practice tracks every so often, which is what ive done with it since i bought it. This obviously cant be varified as there is no V5, however i had no reason to doubt him as he knew alot about this bike.
As ive said, i bought it with the intention of taking up motocross, however ive been to practise days but found it basically isnt for me. Instead, im going back to Enduro, which is why the bike is now up for sale. I really like this bike, but i tried to use if for enduro, but the high reving engine and torque at the back wheel made it harder than it should be. Also, the lack of electric start didnt help and the fact that the Welsh Trial Riders group insist that members use road registered bikes have forced my hand into selling the bike. I am now after a CRF X or KTM EXC......
If you are looking for a pristine used motocross bike, your dreaming. This bike has all the usual scuffs associated with off roading. HOWEVER, the plastics are intact with no cracks or snaps. It has the UFC Graphic kit which is slightly peeling in places, mainly on the right hand fairing where it caught my knee brace whilst kick starting it.
I have an invoice for work carried out on the 26/05/2011 for £779.10p for a full rebuild - New Piston / Big end, straighten gearshaft and weld to crankcase. The invoice advises that the weld to the crankcase is poor quality. This weld is cosmetically poor - it doesnt leak oil etc and runs fine.
4 Stroke, so no need to be mucking about with mixing bottles.
Plenty of meat on brake pads and discs, both front and back
It has a DOMA Racing exhaust fitted.
It has a shortened brake lever.
It starts on second or third kick when cold, first when hot.
The clutch lever mount has cracked. Ive repaired this with some cable ties which works fine, however i have a new mount which i will include in the sale. (See picture)
The Grips are a bit tatty on the ends, as shown in the pictures, but work as they should. The throtte operates fine, but doesnt 'snap' back into the off position. This is basically down to be lubing the cable with a chain lube, which turned out to be 'tacky'. A squirt of WD40 should sort this out.
Small tear on the right hand side of the seat (see picture)
Everything works as it should - no leaks or rattles from the engine.
The chain and sprokets are good.
Tyres - Front Bridgestone and back Mitchelin are good.
Suspesion works as it should, again, no leaks etc.
There is some minimal surface rust on some bolts etc, but nothing to worry about.
Im no expert mechanic, but i do ride motorbikes daily and there is nothing i think you should be concerned about.
The bike has had probably about 20hrs (Light) use since the rebuild. I have put about 10hrs on it and regulary clean the bike, change oil etc and service the chain.
The Oil and Filter is due to be changed. I was going to do this, however when i buy a bike, its the first thing I do, so rather than waste oil and a filter, I will hand over 3 x K & N Oil Filters to the buyer to do themself. If you prefer, I can do this prior to collection.
The bike is basically standard.
Due to the current trend for stealing Motorbikes, for the duration of the auction, I am keeping the bike at a friends house. If you want to view the bike, I will bring it to my home address and you can view it here. I am an honest person, trying to honestly sell my bike to I can get an Enduro Bike. Im not trying to rip anyone off and will treat you as i hope you will treat me.
If you want to view the bike, please give me a bit of notice so i can get it. I would recomend you view it before buying it, as its an expensive mistake to make. If you win, you buy it. Any non payers will be reported to ebay etc.
On winning the auction, please pay £50 via paypal as a deposit. This is NON REFUNDABLE and will basically cover the fees and hasstle if you then pull out. Sorry to have to do this.
The remainder of the money cash on collection.
PLEASE, I know roughly how much the bike is worth, so dont email me with stupid offers.
I live just outside of Chepstow, where the bike can be viewed, I can give a reciept to the winning bidder for the sale. Although ive listed as collection, I MAY be able to deliver the bike as i do have a trailer. This is to be arranged before the auction ends and after an amount of money has been agreed for the delivery. Payment for the delivery will be by PayPal in advance.
I will not ship abroad.
I am happy to hold onto the bike for a week or so while you sort yourself out with transport / time off etc.
Any one with less than 50 Feedback to contact me first - I need to know you are serious.
If you have any questions, please email me.
If you want any other pictures, please email me.
Thanks for looking.
