The XC60 is a very
well thought out car with some excellent and unique design features which makes
this car a superb all-rounder. The car has Volvo’s
award-winning City-safe speed collision avoidance system. It really is a thoroughly
modern and stonking car and probably the safest car on the road. We are selling
this car as we are buying a new XC60 once we have sold this one. We change our
cars every 3- years or thereabouts. We are itchin'
to order our new car.
(For full overview of
the XC60, visit http://www.volvocars.com/uk/all-cars/volvo-xc60/Pages/default.aspx). This site is very much worth a visit. To buy the
same car new would cost in excess of £34K.
Our car has never
been put through an auto-wash, so the paintwork does not have those unsightly
swirl marks you get from those big nylon rotating brushes. The car has only
ever been hand-washed and therefore the metallic paint still maintains its
excellent ‘as-new’ sheen. This is clear to see from the pictures. I also clean
the inside of the alloys. Sad or what?
The interior, which
is black Volvo-Tec two-tone black, is also in excellent and unblemished
condition with absolutely no tears or any noticeable wear. The
carpets have been protected with Volvo fitted car-mats, so all are in superb
order. The internal is ‘as new’ and still retains that new-car smell.
Everything works, as it should.
In response to question by PBS, Cheshire: Tyre tread depths NSF - 7mm; OSF - 7mm; NSR - 7mm; OSR - 7mm. The alloy wheels are unmarked, no dings, kerb marks, scrapes or scratches whatsoever. You can assume that the wheel in the photograph is indicative of all wheels and assume that this is the worst of the 4- wheels. The tyres, which have recently been replaced, are the exact same type, size and model as originally supplied with the car by Volvo, i.e. Continental Contact 4x4 (235/65 V 17 load rating 104V). Kwik-fit price @ £154.80p each, so no rubbish here.
Our car also has a
removable ‘full’ Volvo tow-bar (lockable). It comes complete with the correct
electrical connectors. This was used a few times per year to tow a small “Halfords-type’ ERDE garden
trailer, (just visible in a couple of photo's). When not in use the tow-hitch stows in the
boot in its dooket out of sight. A cover plate clips over the fitting point so the
clean-lines of the car are not spoilt by an ugly protruding hitch. The tow-bar was a £700.00 extra fitted at purchase by Volvo. Front and Rear parking sensors were also a fitted optional extra.
There are 2-off
trip-meters on the car, one of which has never been reset since the day we purchased the car. This shows an average overall mileage
under all driving conditions around 32mpg. It easily reaches
near-enough 40mpg on steady country driving. That’s pretty good for a load-lugging family car.

steering wheel for cruise control, radio / CD / IPod operation and hands-free
This car has one of
the best ‘hands-free’ bluetooth telephone systems fitted to any car. It is a
dream and a doddle to operate. Plug & Play at its best. Downloads full
address book and all call information from IPhone 3GS / 4 or 4S. Connects
multiple phones. Everything works via the steering wheel controls, as does the hi-fi controls.
There is a fold-down
back seat (60/40 or 40/20/40 split), which extends the boot area so that the load area is absolutely flat, (see photo).
Folding down the passenger front seat can further extend this. We have had
three full sets of golf clubs, three golf trolleys and three passengers easily
accommodated inside, with space to spare. There really is a massive very
useable boot area. Unless you really, really need 7- seats, this car makes much
more sense than its big-brother, the XC90 (XC60 internal space is as big and it
is a nicer, more modern shape). We previously owned a BMW-X5 and, whilst I
loved the beemer too, the XC60 is a far more practcal car, especially taking in to
consideration that the XC60 is a good £12K less for a lesser specced X5. These
cars are eachy-peachy in terms of 'quality of product'.
The XC60 high-end audio system
pumps out quite a reasonable sound. The on-board computer system (Volvo
information centre) allows for personalisation of various settings including
door-lock, mirror, lighting & security settings.
