Mazda Rx8 as you can see I've fitted a Nissan 200sx 2L Turbo SR20 DET engine and 5 speed gearbox. Car has done around 71k miles and is a uk car, was a 231ps. SR20 engine had covered 85k miles and was from a 2000 w reg s14a.
Although it has the nissan engine fitted this is not a half finished project, ive been driving it almost every day for 6 months faultlessly. Due to its potential i imagine it will appeal more to an enthusiast than a regular buyer but i must stress the only reason i did this was for reliability, extra power was a bonus, anybody could drive this car every day without a worry, it isnt highly tuned or hard to drive at all. Engine.. Engine is in good shape, running around 14psi, front mount intercooler with 3" ali tube, stock turbo, 255 walbro fuel pump, large custom sump, alternator relocated to the other side, hks mushroom filter, bailey dump valve, gear lever short shifter, boost gauge, 3" stainless exhaust from trubo to back box, stock back box except i cut it open and removed all the baffles so its free flowing and i didnt want a really loud eshaust. On initial start first rev there is a very sight vvt rattle which goes away immediately and I have been informed is 100% normal for these engines. Does not require any attention im just being honest. Don't know how powerful it is, somewhere between 250- 280bhp i would think. When i was playing i turned the boost up to 1.5 bar for one blast up the road and it was rapid, no boost leaks or anything so thats good to know if thats your intention. Hard bit has been done, all you need is a chip and some injectors and your well on the way to well over 300hp if you wanted. Has a new fast road clutch kit. (not heavy at all) Body.. Paintwork is pretty good, could do with a really serious polish to get it really nice but as you can see in the pics it looks ok. There's a scratch on the rear bumper and a very small dent in the wing (hardly noticeable). See pics. Interior is in really good shape apart from some scuffing on the drivers seat bolster as is normal for 70k miles. Battery is relocated to the boot but still leaves plenty of room. Things to be aware.. Steering has been restricted and 25mm spacers fitted to the front wheels to allow for the rack being moved forward, feels exactly the same and steering is perfect as it should be except full lock is not as much as it used to be. No prob at all just worth a mention. Runs the original electronic steering rack so all is as it should be. Engine sump is lower than it used to be so be aware of this over speed bumps. Have fitted a thick steel sump guard just in case so no probs there. Not noticeable in day to day driving. Gearing, since the original engine was designed to rev much higher the back axle has a very high ratio basically meaning it now does about 3000 rpm at approx 60mph instead of about 2500 or so rpm. This doesn't bother me as i dont use it on the motorway. So something to consider if you want to drive 150mph would be to fit mazda rx7 auto diff internals to the diff which would then give you a pretty much normal gear ratio. No idea how fast it would go. Gearbox is a little loud, sometimes whines a bit, these are bullet proof and i assure you will not break but should you want to replace it they are only a £200 for a good one. Dash lights, I have kept the original rx8 ecu in order to operate the speedo, dash lights and steering etc however i did not manage to make the battery, traction control and engine check lights go out. All the rest do, fuel oil pressure rev and speedo all word perfectly. I have just neatly put a piece of black tape over the eng check and batt light so that it doesnt annoy me, hardly noticeable at all. With a little more ecu studying they can prob be made to go out but i cant be bothered as they dont bother me. The batt obviously charges perfectly as its connected to the nissan engine as it should be. Has been left for two weeks whilst i was on hol and it started straight up perfectly so everythings good there. Cant really think of anything else. It really is actually a very good car now it has a decent engine, i would be very surprised if anything went wrong with the car. Has been mot'd and went through without a single advisory since it was finished so i know theres nothing wrong with it. All mounts are made from 5mm steel, there are no funny noises or wobbles or anything. Tyres are all really good. Only reason im selling is because i have and Rx7 with a toyota engine in and I cant keep them both. Will be sorry to see it go. Viewing and test driving is obviously welcome and recommended. Please don't mess me around and insult me, its a decent car and im not after crazy money for it. I sure as hell guarantee you it would cost you a lot more than what this will go for to do it yourself. Mot- November 23rd. 12 Tax- 06.12 so runs out end of june. Insurance costs me £650 from adrian flux declaring everything about the car. Im 28. Obviously collection only and cash or bank transfer. Im in Ramsgate, Kent. CT11 Rich, 07795141174 ring txt or message me on ebay. Cheers. Will be sorry to see it go! Radio works fine tho so i never bothered fixing it. Also for anybody asking about a price ive decided i can come down a little on what ive said. Trying to upload a couple more pictures but its not going well, bear with me. All the plastic arch liners and plastic under tray are all back in so looks pretty much stock from the outside except for the intercooler. For the drifters out there talking about more lock, you can achieve that by either fitting larger diameter wheels or wider wheel spacers and then removing the spacer ive put on the rack. Steering would prob want neutralising from a mazda or ford computer after, maybe. Not a big deal. And the steering is absolutely fine for normal driving hence ive been happy with it for 6months of constant use. |
