If you're looking for a ULN-8 I'm sure you are aware of the reputation of this unit. I certainly was not disappointed by anything even after reading all the hype before deciding to purchase it. In fact I've been constantly amazed by the flexibility and sound quality, and found new features almost every time I've used it. This was a brand new unit in November last year, so less than a year old. Rare to find a new unit, especially in the UK, let alone with ALL extras, high quality cables, and the Mamba XDB break out box/patch bay. The XDB makes all of the ULN-8's I/O's available as XLR's or TRS sockets on a convenient rack mount unit. As stated above the ULN-8 is fully loaded with the +DSP license which gives you an amazing array of effects/processors, including the fantastic sounding "character" (enables vintage saturation effects and such to be loaded on any channel). The preamps are incredible quality, and are widely regarded to rival the best boutique pres available (in my experience this is not an exaggeration). This may be of particular interest to UK/European buyers, especially considering the extras. For example the Mamba XDB break out box can only be ordered from the USA, thus attracting high shipping/VAT/customs charges and adding significantly to the cost (The Mamba is specific to the ULN-8 so doesn't come up second hand). The cables are very high quality/rugged, and are usually expensive extras. The 4 "D-Sub" cables hook up the back panel of the ULN-8 to the Mamba XDB. The AES/EBU looms are very high quality/rugged and nice looking (colour coded) cables. These were custom made by Hinton Instruments in the UK. They allow you to connected the 8 channels of AES/EBU I/O to any other equipment using this format. I've tested every single connection and everything works perefctly. Overall the ULN-8 is in immaculate condition, and perfect working order, as it has been well looked after in a smoke-free, clean studio environment. Minor negative is a small scratch/mark along one of the bottom corners (hardly visible, can only be seen if unit is upside down). The Mamba XDB is also in excellent cosmetic condition (with a few small marks but nothing noticeable). Minor negative is that the 1st XLR connector does not "click in" properly, due to a bent XLR being used the first time I plugged in, which got stuck. It's only on the first connector, none of the others, and I work around this easily using the XLR connector without the clip at the end (see pics). It could very easily be replaced with a new one (I just don't have time to do it, plus I'm not a studio tech so don't want to risk damaging the unit). Despite the connector not "clicking in" in the connection is 100% fine (has never been intermittent).
