I have been servicing Epson printers for some time now and I always use my own cleaning fluid to flush Epson printer heads.

I do not make outrageous claims that it will work 100% or your money back and inflate the price to compensate and you will not receive a tiny 30ml or 50ml bottle and claim it will last for years.

I have researched the subject of cleaning Epson printer heads and now have a formula that works on over 90% of Epson printers. PRINT-EASE contains a Solvent (non corrosive) and a Surfactant which when combined breaks down any congealed or hard ink and flushes the ink through the head. I use it on all my printers and would not use anything else. 

I have had Epson printers which have been left standing for over a year which have been successfully cleared of all blockages. Sometimes a bit of patience is required because if a printer has not printed anything for a while you will have to let the Cleaning Fluid soak through especially if the cartridges have been removed allowing air into the nozzles on top of the head and the ink could be solid all the the way into the head, not just at the bottom.

There are many reasons why a printer head can become blocked, in most cases it will be lack of use.If the printer is not used every day and ink is not flowing through the head on a regular basis then the ink can start to congeal and go hard. This applies to all types of ink, Pigment, Dye and Sublimation ink.

The jets on an Epson printer head are extremely small, there are over 200 individual jets per colour, so if the ink starts to go hard it does not take long before the print quality starts to deteriorate.

Inferior ink cartridges are also a cause for blockages and sometimes changing from one brand of cartridge to another brand will cause blockages as sometimes the 2 types of ink will not mix. If the printer has been left standing for a while, it is possible for ink to seep from the cartridge and give a false reading on the ink monitor, in other words the ink monitor could show the cartridges to be half full but in reality they are empty, so always check the cartridges have ink in them before assuming the printer head is blocked.

Epson printer heads are quite robust but it is obvious that a small percentage of printer heads will not be successfully flushed and provide a perfect print if there is any damage to the printer head.

Damage to the printer head can occur if you repeatedly run cleaning cycles, if after 3 cleaning cycles there is little or no improvement in print quality then all you will be doing is forcing hardened ink through the tiny jets, this will cause pressure within the printer head and can then cause the internal seals to fail. If the seals inside the printer head get damaged then it will not matter how much cleaning fluid you use as it will make no difference to the print quality.

Another reason for printer head damage is using the wrong type of cleaning fluid or the wrong cleaning technique. 

Do NOT use Ammonia, Nail Remover, Bleach or any other type of household cleaner (all of these can be corrosive), you may clear the printer head but after a while you will find that all you have done is irreversibly damaged the printer head as print quality will deteriorate once the internal seals in in the printer head have perished. If you have already purchased a printer cleaning fluid that smells of Ammonia I would suggest that you do not use it. 

As far as using the wrong technique goes, the worse I have seen suggested is using Compressed Air!!  I cannot imagine why anybody would want to force air through their expensive printer head. Each colour on a printer head has a separate chamber so it  would not take too much pressure to  push through causing colours to mix.

All Epson printers have Waste Ink Pads at the base of the printer, this is where all excess ink is deposited, so it is good idea to fit a Waste Ink Tank before the pads become fully saturated.

Cleaning Methods are provided as a guide only and may have to be adapted to suit your printer.

The injector method is difficult to use on some Epson printer models due to the design. For example, the PX700W through to the PX830FWD all have tubes running from the cartridge bay to the Head and it can be difficult to get cleaning fluid through the tubes to the Head. It is suggested that Refillable Cartridges are used on these models.

PRINT-EASE should only be used for cleaning and flushing printer heads, it should not be used to clean the printer casing or any other appliance.

PRINT-EASE will not cure/fix a damaged printer head, cartridge faults, paper feed problems or any mechanical faults. The injector is designed for use with all Epson Printers and will not fit other model, Canon, Lexmark etc,
