Fast fishing boat, taken out of water last year, batteries too old to start engine now, she takes two 140 amp starter batteries so selling her as a non starter. The old batteries are barely able to turn the engine over as they must be 10 years old. Conceived by my late father, he was an engineer and saw to it that the boat had the best there was during the construction phase. The engine was new when he bought it and marinised with an aluminium sump, gearbox oil cooler, air intake cooler, engine oil cooler, engine water cooler and best of all, an additional high pressure oil pump that shoots oil onto the underneath of the six pistons enabling the engine to be run at full throttle indefinitely. (the oil cools the pistons) Not that we ever did, I reckon that the engine has done something in the order of 500 to 1000 hours underway. Since she was hauled to the hard standing last year the steering cable has become stiff but would not cost much to replace. The bare hull was purchased second hand locally, the cabin is scruffy and needs painting now. My father was not a carpenter! I had the intention to fit new electronics to her but I have a new project now, so you will be able to fit the latest gizmos on a clean palette. The old cathode ray tube radar, old sounder, old radio, old aerial, old speed log are all about the garage that I intended to dump but the new owner is welcome to take them with the boat. She has twin stainless steel diesel tanks. I have data for the engine and gearbox. Its got a high speed rudder which is great for fast work (low drag) but poor when manoeuvring in tight spaces. The deck is made of treated timber and could do with sanding and painting. The hull is very strong 0.75" thick at the centre line and we were told that originally she had twin mercruisers and took part in the round uk race. Her top speed is 20 knots and if you access YOU TUBE  with "cuthbertson 20 knots" you will see her in action, the engine has a wonderful sound when she winds up to full throttle, its an exhilarating experience on a flat sea and positively terrifying if there is a sea working. From the pictures you will see that the boat rests on a six wheeled trailer, galvanised with massive turnbuckles. The trailer can be bought by the new owner for what I paid for it £1000. So when you win the auction, you have the option of purchasing the trailer should you wish. The option to buy the trailer is only given to the new boat owner as it is a nice piece of kit that I can make use of myself. On the port side there is a false deck where a hauler could be fitted. There are two solar panels there at the moment that charge the starter motor batteries. The two starter motor batteries are used in parallel for the 12v starter motor and they are charged by a large 24v alternator in line. The boat is kept at the Monkstone Club, Neath. If the new owner wishes to keep the boat at Monkstone after the auction finishes he/she will have to approach the committee and pay a pro rata fee of £600 per year for the hard standing. This cost could vary this year but it will give you a rough estimate if you wanted a few weeks to organise the transport. I am available any time for viewing being retired now. This will be a fab boat for this season with a little time spent on her. I have a new nautical project now and cannot afford to keep both much as I would like to.

On 01-Apr-14 at 21:40:23 BST, seller added the following information:

Engine started 1/4/14 using jump leads from car and filled the raw water strainer so that the Jabsco raw water pump rubber impeller was not damaged. If you run a marine engine without using a water supply the impeller be ruined so after she started I stopped her immediately.

She has a 2 burner hob and a grill and a butane gas bottle in the cabin.

She has a sound GRP hull.
