I purchased this 6 year old computer with the Tiger OS X. I was a pc user until I purchased this used mac laptop. I was impressed with the feel and look of this computer. It runs so quiet, almost silent. I found that it also ran very cool. The OS is easy to learn and and there is plenty of support on the apple website. My pc laptop by Toshiba and others I have had in the past by Gateway ran warm to hot and also very loud. I kept the ibook for about a week before reselling it and purchasing a new MacBook. Apple has a great resale value, they are dependable and the service is out standing. When you need technical assistance you can reach a live person in moments. This ibook has a dvd burner/player. It runs smooth and quick for a 6 year old machine (boots quicker than my 2009 Toshiba Satellite pro). Great for surfing the internet. Highly recommend.Read full review
The iBook G4 is the perfect blend of Affordability and Performance. I know that many of us out there feel pressured to keep buying the latest, greatest, and fastest laptop on the market. But lets face it, at this point in my life I simply cannot afford to drop $2,000 on a laptop...heck, I can't even afford to spend $500 on a computer. So, for me, the iBook G4 is the perfect solution. Still fast enough to meet my needs: writing papers, doing research, listening to music, storing photos, even a little dabbling in Garage Band and iMovie. I'm not a communications major, or a technology whiz, I don't need to be able to do a million and one things in the blink of an eye. For about $300 bucks I was able to get a reliable, affordable, and fast laptop with all the most modern software on it. I've got OSX 10.5 Leopard, iLife and iWork 2009 edition, and the Adobe Software Suite. What more could you ask for? I figure if I can get two years out of this iBook it will have more than earned its money back for me. So, those are my positive notes. A few important pointers for anyone considering a similar investment: Look at your RAM, its old and no longer made in the factories so it can be expensive to upgrade later. The more you can get off the bat, the better. Also, try to keep an eye out for a DVD burner. This can be a huge lifesaver. Do a regular back ups, burn them onto disk, you'll be safe from all computer meltdowns. Best of luck, but an iBook. Regards,Read full review
I am a pc-tech and at first glance found Apple laptops intimidating and to say the least very expensive to own but I was curious. The 1.42 GHz model with Superdrive was my first Mac and laptop, and is the machine on which this review is being written. Needless to say, I have enjoyed owning it, and will be upset to part with it in favor of a MacBook when the time comes. I have since purchased several iBooks with different specs-refurbished them and sold them. Furthermore I've also converted many friends and family members to the ease of Apple. The Apple iBook G4 is possibly the best all-around laptop yet made. This would explain its extremely long lifespan as the entry-level portable Mac. The iBook G4 line has been incredibly successful, for Apple and myself. Why? It combines a beautiful and sleek form factor, while at the same time being a machine capable of getting your tasks completed.Read full review
