This is a simple saliva, urine and drink test to detect the presence of alcohol. With a saliva sample the test can detect the presence of alcohol in the saliva and so can provide an estimation of blood alcohol levels. With urine or drink samples the test will determine whether there is alcohol present at all. The test will not give you an amount of alcohol present within the sample.
This test can be of use if you want to know if you are safe to drive the morning after heavily drinking the night before.
The test consists of a plastic strip with a reactive pad at the tip. When the tip is in contact with solutions of alcohol it will rapidly turn shades of green to blue depending on the amount of alcohol present. This pack comes with 3 strips.
Each test is individually wrapped and is conveniently packed in a small and flat package so can easily be carried in a purse or wallet.
How good are these tests?
We are now one of the
largest suppliers of drug tests to customers throughout the world and
our tests are used in treatment centres, hospitals and by medical
professionals. They are made specifically for us and comply with
CE (European Community) and FDA (United States) rules and regulations
and every pack has the approval details printed on them. We also supply
large parts of the UK National Health Service (the NHS). The tests we
supply to the NHS are identical to the ones we sell to you and every
batch is checked religiously for quality and accuracy - they are more
than 99% accurate. As for the expiry dates, they will always be at least
1 year away and more often nearly 2 years (which is the legal maximum).
Do we really supply these tests to the NHS?
Yes we do - you can view the NHS catalogue page for our alcohol tests here and see for yourself:
NHS Catalogue
Unfortunately
a lot of eBay sellers claim to be NHS suppliers when they are not. If
you click on the above link you can search "drug tests" in the box at
the top and all the NHS suppliers of drug tests will be displayed under
"brand" at the top of the page. You will see us (Home Health UK) but
you will struggle to find many other eBay sellers - we could not find
any!!
Test procedure
Make sure you read all instructions carefully and follow them exactly. Ensure you do not place anything in your mouth for 15 minutes prior to taking the test. This includes soft drinks, tobacco, mints or any food.
- Open the foil packet and remove the strip from the sealed packet, do not throw the packet away as you will need it later.
- You will see a small pad at one end of the strip, ensure that this is a cream/white colour. If the pad is darker in colour this strip should not be used.
- Place the end with the small pad into your mouth and saturate with saliva.
- Once the pad is saturated (wet) with saliva remove strip from the mouth.
- After 1- 2 minutes compare the colour of the pad with the colour blocks at the bottom of the packet the strip was removed from.
- You should not read the results after 2 minutes and 30 seconds as this may result in inaccurate readings.
It is possible to detect the presence of alcohol in other fluids, such as drinks. However, if used in this manner the colour chart on the outside of the package does not apply. If alcohol is present in the fluid a colour change ranging from a light green/grey to dark brown/black will occur as the alcohol concentration increases. Little or no colour change may occur with pure alcohol due to the absence of water, which is required for the colour change reaction. When testing fluids a result should not be considered positive unless the pad changes to dark brown or black.
Results
If there is no colour change on the pad then no alcohol was detected in your saliva. If the strips turns any shade of green or blue then alcohol was detected.
This test ranges from zero alcohol present to the legal driving limit and above. The legal limit at the current time in the UK is 80milligrams of alcohol per 100millitres of blood. This is marked as 0.08% on the packet.
